Default Car of the year rant, and others!!!!!!!

sorry everyone, I thhink I upset too many people here, got a little harsh on a few things. I just thought andy gallachers car should have won, and or another better engineered car that was on the list

I was shocked when i read it i must admit, Obviosly due to a lack of voting people thinking the other guys would get so many votes.

Still hats off to the guy though, its hardly a horrible car

i don't like focus's, so that puts alex's and andy's off the top list for me, however the oddkidd cossie escort looks and goes, fuckin brilliant

definately should have won methinks.

i was abit suprised to see that car as the car of the year, i could think of worse. but there wasnt really anything amazing about it. im more into engineering rather than money tho. so i would always vote for a scruffy car a guy has built himself and drives everyday opposed to an 500hp escos that someguy has just bought and thrown cash at and does no miles in

I'm not saying it's a rubbish motor, i'm really not. But I go out and buy a skyline GTs, and turn it into a GTR, yes it's a lot of work, but more money than sense, and it doesn't mean I should win over something like a 200mph R34 thats entirely carbon fibre used to race etc, because they would be leagues apart. I hate jap by the way.

If you look at it like that, I just don't think it's giving people who do actually use a bit of the sweed to do something different with thier cars enough respect. It's a step back, it's all you had to do in the 90's. Kit up your 1.3 bonus like a turbo and you were in the mags.

Just out of intertest - How many of you complaining about the winner actually voted for someone else?

There were a LOT of votes, and Alex's car polled the most by a decent margin. We put a deliberately wide selection of cars into the mix (plus 5 IIRC were submitted by the reader, including Alex's car).

Alex is a good bloke, and as dedicated to his Ford as any one on here. It may not be to everyone's tastes (and yes, the Lambo doors are 'dubious', hence why we put no pics of them in the feature), but at the end of the day his car ended up with the most votes so he was the winner.

As for the 'VW Look' comments - The car you're referring to was never featured in FF, it was an advert for Fast Car. It was sent in for a feature with us, but I declined, and passed it onto FC. We may put the odd pic of such a car in a show report, but they're not FF feature car material.

God bless you dan, god bless you!! You knew exactly the picture I was talking about there, and yes when I saw it my bum did twich like a rabbits nose and a tear was forming on my shaking eye.

I honestly don't think it's a bad car, I don't, and I bet in the flesh it looks great. But I voted like hell for andys car, and i'm just shocked that no other work of art like that car got the award. It was fair and square I know, these things are, but I didn't mention it was the magazines fault. I just thought it was a step back. The scene as it stands is amazing. I don't think a reader base of any other manufacturer is as knowlegable about tuning, engineering and the general basics of the internal combustion engine. Nor as dedicated.

I know a lot of cars are cheque book whores, but even so, If I get a 10grand loan, and do that to a focus, I don't think I'd get car of the year if you stuck it next to the calibre of motors you had in there. I bet loads of people were shocked to see it had won.

I agree picking a winner is a personal choice not which car goes the quickest or has the most money spent on it. The votes reflected the fact that normal people could relate & see themselves creating a car like the one that won.

Yeah I know mate, I used to be a plasterer, but it's like I said, £175 a day for doing nothing. And I don't have to run myself ragged anymore. Plus if it all goes tits up, tradesmen go first, I'll still be making my 175 a day, like for the last 6 months our sites have been shut down, still getting paid after 300 lads got laid off. The money is great on the tools, but it's not a guarantee.

The only people from Mankchester earning £175 a day are fucking thieves

besides for that money a few months and you could have a car to grace the pages of said magazine, maybe even win car of the year that way we wouldn't have to read your bitching

it's a quality bit of a rant though and, in that respect, get's the dojj thumb of approval

i can't rememebr how the voting was supposed to be voted for, but i would have voted for harvey's car, and might have done so if i can rememebr how i'd been able to vote (although if it cost money then i wouldn't have done so)

I can't afford it mate!! I've got a 270K house, a 20yr mortgage, tax on a company car and a serious habbit on the weekend sniff, plus a mrs who's never out of the hair dressers, getting her mails done and has an addiction to designer clothes!! she's great in bed though. Once christmas is over I'll hopefully be getting a particular EsCos, but we have to wait for a pay rise, until then, I guess i'll have to keep on steeling ey. Then I can swap my company M3 for something with a ford badge ey.
