I really fancy this place
http://www.rodiziorico.com/
heard a lot of people talk about it, thinks it a bit of a blokes night out place rather than romantic meal though
Theres jamie olivers new place on the wharf now, looks decent from outside. Looking forward to the replies as it something I might do if she sorts her attitude out

Definitely cant get in The Ivy? Try and phone and see if they can squeeze the two of you in.
I went in June/July this year to The Ivy. Never been to London before. What a nice place it is, such nice staff, doorman etc. Really nice food and not as expensive as youd think. I think you can view the menu on the website.
Id definitely recommend it if your with the missus

Just go Brick Lane for good curry and buy your booze at one of the off licences there to enjoy with your meal. Cheap as chips and the only place I was happy eating out in London when I lived there.

Ok.... well, Vertigo is a FANTASTIC place where the view in incredible, and the service is fantastic!
NOBU is great if you like fish/sushi/sashimi, and pretty much guaranteed to see a celeb in there.
Gordon Ramseys is also incredible!
The best person to speak to is Lee (Porkie) he has been to pretty much every exclusive restaurant in london!

If you're in the covent garden area then Joe Allen's is nice and sometimes get the odd celeb, cheaper than The Ivy too.
Also worth a go is Rules, which is London's oldest restaurant and specialises in traditional game.

If you can't get in the IVY, try the sister restaurant Le Caprice. If you also want that traditional old world kind of class... J Sheekey or Le Gavroche.
Gordon Ramsey has many fine places all over London.... the best is still Hospital road. They are ALL good though.
If you like Japanese fusion food then its easy. Nobu (Berkeley st, is far cooler one of the two) do you agree Maria? or Zuma... Zuma is very very cool.
There really are soooooo many. Why don't you tell me what kinda food you like? that would be easier.
Hope that helps
The 'hot' places at the moment... where people are talking about alot I would consider to be 'Goodman' 'Scotts' 'Murano' and The Palm
Avoid The Palm. I thought it was crap! even though I saw the spice girls minus posh in there! Just overpriced yank steak house!!! why all the hype I have NO idea!

Depends on what sort of food your Mrs is after.
Have a look at this
http://www.urbanspoon.com/lb/52/best-restaurants-London
I use urban spoon quite a lot, thats a list of the top 100 places as voted by the customers! If your looking to splash the cash, try one with a ŁŁŁŁ mark on it.

I can recommend Sarastro www.sarastro-restaurant.com
It's a great experience with a 1001 Night interior, try to get seats in one of the opera boxes. And a visit to the bathrooms is mandatory.... Very interesting decoration...

Porkie,
The goodman looks a nice place.
We're not into Sushi or fish places, but OK with others foods....
We Love places like The bar and Grill in Leeds www.therestaurantbarandgrill.co.uk/leeds.html ( doubt you'll know it ) or places like 3 arcres in Huddersfield www.3acres.com ( again, doubt you know it )
Just after a nice classy place with a great atmoshere, where you dont feel rushed ect and there are places near by.
We staying at the Andez ( the HYATT ), which is near westend i believe? dont know if that helps?
Thanks

Its Andaz mate and no its not near the west end.... its 30 secs from my office and its in the heart of the city, not the West end.
Its nice hotel though. Its the old great Eastern revamped. Right on Liverpool street station.
Its 20 mins in cab or 15 mins on tube from west end at least.
Nice restaurants in the hotel actually... I eat there all the time. The cheese board/experience in main eatery there is off the charts!
Take my mobile 07887 500876. If you need any help booking or anything whilst you are in London then let me know....
It really is RIGHT by mine and Marks office where you are staying... I'll come and say hello
Goodman is gonna be your kinda place I reckon by the way.... very very talked about place at the moment as well

Were going to eat there on Friday before the show, then have a good night out on the sat...
look forward to your recommendations buddy, could do with getting booked in somewhere?
I'll be well lost in London! LOL
Sat will be a shopping day i think, so point me in the right direction!

Give me the dates and I will book you in...
1901 is the best restaurant in your hotel... its ok... but lacks atmosphere. Very quiet.... but classy and romantic...
I would suggest Gaucho grill which is also near and great steak and funky downstairs... but you are going Goodmans the next night so will be steak fest...
let me have a think....
Vertigo for champagne is a MUST though. what date you coming?

Gaucho is cool, quite unusual too the way its underground yet still so much natural light due to all the glass, worth doing just cause its different to anything I can think of from when I was up in Leeds and eating out etc, so should make a good change, likewise vertigo by the sounds of it although ive never got round to go myself despite how cool it looked when Lee went.
