a mate has a w plate discovery td5 that lacks power, i've never driven a td5 before so i'm not sure but it feels like a mondeo with a split boost pipe.
driving around town it seems ok, but show it a hill and drive hard through the gears by third it just dies, full throttle and the revs drop significantly.
also at about 3100rpm it just stops accelerating. (if you can call in acceleration!) there isn't no noticable time when the turbo cuts in either? is this a td5 trait?
i know it's big heavy car but i've got a older v8 and it would totally run rings around it, infact my missus 1.1 fiesta would!
i've checked boost pipes, intercooler, vacuum pipes and also checked the wastegate, but didn't have the tools to remove the heatshield. the lever on the turbo when pushed with a screwdriver towards the bulkhead moves a little and springs back so it's not siezed. should the wastegate actuator have a vacuum or pressure to operate?
any ideas lads?

Poss egr valve seizure. Also check 4 oil in the ecu connectors[YES THATS WRITE THE ECU CONNECTORS]the pulsing current thru the wires believe it or not pulls oil from the injectors to the ecu. t4 diagnosis maybe required
