Default what would cause you to loose rev range

i'v got a fiesta turbo the car developed an issue with the rev range
the car has just had a new engine although it done this on the old 1
it will start, idle an drive ok but will not rev past 4500rpm an sounds like its hitting the rev limit it does it at the same point in every gear.
iv changed plugs,ht leads, coil pack, map sensor, ecu, iscv, tps,iv had the loom checked for bad wires or breaks an now im lost to what to try myself before it has to go to a garage.
it also wont rev past 4500 on idle 1 of my mates said it coulld be valve bounce but someone else said you wouldn't get that on idle.
engine spec is.
piper 285t2 cam with vernier pulley
ported head an inlet manifold
o.5 with wossner pistons low comp an steel rods
t3 with .48 exhaust housing
ofab ecu with custom msd chip
currently running 10psi i no the cam is specced to run 15psi+ would this be an issue thanks to anyone who may be able to help.chris

none of the above.

EFI is not a dissy like the MFI.

Boost limit, your having trouble with overboost my friend.
your ECU is eather stoping it, or the turbo rod is turned up to much, whats your PSI range for the boost? and what are you running? standard, ECU standard?? chiped?

it needs going up for a rolling road setup,

Try this fucker,

Get into second, Get upto your rev, and when it hits boot limit, then wack your ignstion off and on, and then carry on, see if you can get past that rev range.

does it start to stutter when you hit that rev range? Like its jerking

does it happen now and again? or all the time.

if your timming is out, you wouldnt have any boost, or it would not run correct. if your cat is fucked. it would smell real bad. but on a RS there SS so i would say no cat in your system

car doesn't have a cat
the problem is their all the time even if you rev it on idle it will rev to 4500rpm then seems to hit the limiter an sounds like it go's on 3 cylinders then levels itself out

As the problem is there whilst being driven at exactly the same rpm, it is most likely electrical rather than fuelling.
Does it make any noise when at 4500 that isn't normal ?, odd it being the same with the last engine, again pointing to something electrical in nature, as the loom etc was not changed, sounds like there is a lecky breakdown but odd it is so specific, are you sure it doesn't have any extra electronic boxes on it maybe hidden somewhere, like a rev limiter.

only noise you get is like a rev limit noise out the exhaust if you no what i meen its hard to describe their is def no extra rev limiters fitted. the car was originally an 1.6xr2i the only wireing i got told to change was the engine loom from the turbo an make sure the wire colours matched up which they did i also fitted an uprated fuel pump

Was the crank sensor changed with the new engine or re-used?
