just thought i'd ask on here before fords themselves, but ive got a 53 plate 170 focus and its in need of some new ball joints but fords are telling me that you can only buy the whole wish bone which has the ball joint on the end. or can you just get a replacement ball joint from else where, many thanks simon

The ball joints are riveted to the lower arms, ford do not supply them seperately. You can however buy replacement aftermarket ball joints that bolt in. I have a Delphi set I got from e-bay for my Focus RS, I assume the ST will be a similar setup. Try asking in the Focus RS section on the RSOwners club bb.

usually the st170s bushes on the arm wear quickly even if they look ok it is really worth changing the whole arm as you will find soon enough that they will be deaded and you have to strip it all down again
