Hey Dave and Chip, drove past you on the M25 yesterday, you might have been wondering why a loud blue Land Rover was tooting and waving when going past, it was me.

Was a little surprised to first see Chip driving YUM, then Helen's sapph on the trailer on the back of a jeep . Gearbox explains it

Strangely, mrsFrog commented on how driving down the M1 on a Sunday afternoon brought back memories

Here's what I've been to this week end, slower and a lot dirtier

I saw you give the thumbs up but not who was driving, I would have done a showing off style flyby if we werent in a contraflow at the time.

I was commenting to Helen on what a cool landy it was, it is a cut down rangey chassis?

Easiest way to break the gearbox on yum helen would be to swap it with your broken one
Simples!

Although that said, given that you were absolutly flat out in 3rd EVERY session in several places, im at a bit of a loss as to how you think he treated it any worse than you did or how its anything other than bad luck it died while he was driving it?
(I realise that involves logic and you are female so I probably wont get an answer )

I had a great day, caught up with plenty of people i've not seen for a while!

Spent 90% of the time in the pits and on the pit wall as most of my friends were on track

I thought things were as well as they could be for the short notice rearrangement.

How was he more harsh, you were on FULL boost at the same part on the course where it failed for him, how exactly could he have been on anymore?

Figured you wouldn't recognise me, traffic density didn't allow for much time looking away from the road

No, it's a 1986 defender 90 converted to truck cab, discovery engine, new defender axles... not much of the original one, except for the body... even the doors have been replaced

when i opened this thread i thought here we go !

but after the first few moans everyone seems grateful that the show went ahead.

we always knew numbers and traders would be down but decided that we would rather have a smaller show than non at all.

many national day staff re arranged holidays and travveled from the top end of the country to make sure we could make the best of what we had handed to us 2 weeks earlier.

you can never please everyone at ANY show but all things considered i thought the day was a success,

the area i look after ( local groups ) on the melbourne loop was down about 50 cars from last year so with the date change and credit crunch i think thats not bad at all.

thanks to all that came and heped and thanks to everyone who attended

i am sorry to those of you who did not enjoy it , lets hope we can put that right next year with what should be the best new venue around !!

regards

Dave

LOL at another stupid thread!!!

So many glad i didnt go replys!!!
Dohhhh its because you didnt go that the show was fairly quiet!!!!!!

Its the owners of RS cars that keep the scene alive nothing/nobody else, so if you do not attend put your cars on diplay then its gonna be quiet, am i right or what.

It was through no fault of the RSOC that they had no space, this was down to bad planning by Donnington nothing else!!!
