There are Twin Turbo 996 powered 600bhp Boxsters out there.... but I think you would have known if it was one of those!
Boxster S is not a slow car, but not FAST like a 362 bhp (or is that 262
) Cossie is. He was probably in the right gear, thrashing its nuts off. Whilst you were in lag city...
Latest S has 280bhp, does 0-60 in 5.3 and 166mph. Hardly a snail, but you should still hang your head in shame, because if Saffs aren't good for beating baby Boxsters then what are they good for!?!?!??! Saffs, not exactly the best looking of cars are they

even tho i have the 360bhp its the balance between getting the power down and actually keeping control thats hard
The stock Boxster really isn't that quick and the Boxster S isn't that hard to see off but then out and out speed isn't really what these cars are about.
The new Boxster seems to have had a kick up the bum with performance.

LOL itsa different story on track though i bet a good driver in a properly preped 205 with say 150bhp would give a 330 cossie a good go around a track
Its all about the driver i reckon

Unfortunately they will never make a REALLY fast Boxster from the factory as they think it would hurt 911 sales and Porsche make ALOT more money from selling a 911 than a Boxster. Its a shame really as its Pretty easy to drop the 911 engine in as its a very similar unit just more cc's... The Mid engined layout of the Boxster is theorectically far superior to the arse out 911 as well. But fook all that, 996 GT3's make me hard
and the new 997 is sooooo sexy
I thought the new boxter was loads quicker than the original
The mag I was reading (whilst being forced to do the Tesco's shop against my will
) claimed a 5.2 0-60 and a top end of nearly 180mph.
Like I said early though (if the info I have is incorrect) out and out speed isn't what these cars are about. Bit like the Elise in a way

if porkie was driving his boxster down the lanes and i was driving mine, his boxster would piss all over mine.FACT,,,,, and mines much faster.
as a package the boxster is way ahead

Can Boxsters be quick? I've had mine about 3 weeks now, and in a straight line my stg 1 saff would kill it,no contest(i've pulled away from one doing 120+ before, laughing),but on a twisty road? As stated above, different story, they do shift, but gotta be in the right gear or a diesel would pull away from it!
Fookin fantastic car to drive tho, have just fitted a sports exhaust to mine and it sounds GREAT!

Once upon a time, 16psi in a cossie would be around maybe 280ish and 25psi would be needed for 350ish, is that still the case or have things moved on abit?
If it is then your 16psi is about 60bhp down on what your expecting so that's why you aren't so fast.

i have had a few blasts with Dom over the last few weeks and would say 340/350 is realistic power fiqure for the boost he is running.

Rob, its BoxSter!
You can get a nice early spec car with some toys and extras for 18-20k. Ropey ones are cheaper, there are loads around so look carefully and find a bargain. I am picking one up tomorrow for a friend that I helped him find.
Black with black leather and hood. 1998 2.5 Tipronic S (YUK!) 62k, lux pack, leather, 18' Sport design wheels (GT3 ones) climate control, Traction control, etc etc. Was up for 20k, got in for Ł17.5
Cheap to run and a pleasure to own. NOT fast in a straight line but as Oranaco said earlier, thats not what they are about.

There are LOADS of bargains to be had at the moment if your after a Box. Trust me,i've just bought one!
Bad time of year to be selling a soft top and a lot of sellers getting offered piss poor part ex prices at OPC's(Porsche centres) so trying to sell private. Have a look in Pistonheads classifieds and you'll see what i mean. Got mine for Ł2.5k less than the original asking price(private sale), cos he just couldn't sell it!
Would definetly look into getting one...pretty cheap to insure as well.
