Default spark plug gaps ?

Hi,

quick question, am I correct in saying that when gapping spark plugs you gap them to the biggest gap you can get away with without the car miss firing ?

cheers, Duncan

No, you should set it to what the book says.

I think its more likely to get blown out if the gap is too big

A smaller gap will have intensity generally.

Its case of there is an optimum gap, bigger means a weaker spark that wont ignite as well, smaller means too little over the fuel/air mixture ignites quick enough and wont work as well.

So "just right" is the best gap to use.
