Default engine management help please

i'm after advice about what i need to buy to manage/run my rs2k turbo. i'm heading over to florida a week friday to see my parents and found that megasquirt is a lot cheaper over there, i'm going to be buying this http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/MegaS...=p4506.c0.m245 however i'm well baffled (as i'm a panel beater and not an autoelectrician) as to what else i need from the megasquirt range after buying from the above link. please don't think i'm being lazy, i have read alot into this and am still lost please just a list would be great

A major factor in buying an aftermarket ECU is who is going to map it? There are not many rolling road operators who map the megasquirt system.

I'd consider either Omex or Emerald.

pectel t2 , it there budget ecu but very well engineered and used in loads of motorsport teams . they are also used on world super bikes . the t2 was custom built ecu for the formula ford series of race cars that used the zetec engine so its ideal for a 4 pot engine.
the ecu is £650 and a custom built wiring harness to fit in your car is £450
lots of people can map t2 and probably the best in the business AHMED BAJOO
contact me if your interested and i will put you in touch with ian howell

i must add that these are motorsport products and you would nearly get your money back if it was in good working order

cheers paul

I'd do a lot of homework first, write down what features you want, as this can narrow it down, but be realistic about what you really want.
I wouldn't worry about whether local people can map it, a good map job is worth travelling for.
Remember some ecu's hold more than 1 map so can be used on more than 1 car, simply by plugging in and flicking a switch to the appropriate map for that car/engine.

A good mapper is worth travelling to, but it would be a pain if everytime you modifiyed something you had to make, say, a 6 hour round trip to get the map tweaked!
