A mate has asked me to help him sort the underside of his car as it is starting to show signs of its age. I was wondering what would be the best way to go about this and the best products to use.
I was think of using an angle grinder with a twisted wire knot attachment to remove the underseal then priming using zinc primer then finishing with hammerite smooth. I dont have access to any spraying equipment so has be all done with rattle cans/brushes.
Any advice on method and/or products to use?
Thanks
Dom

can you just buy this in a tin and paint it on with a brush? if so, do you know where i can buy it? also do you need to paint over the top of it, as it is only for protection on a daily car.
Because it's a pikey way of painting the underside of a car.
It's good enough for my brake calipers and my garden furniture, but certainly not my chassis!
If you're going to do a job, do it right and use the correct gear. Which is definitely Epoxy Mastic!

i took mine down to bare metal to check for rust, then acid etched primered it, sealed the joints etc, high build primer, then 2 types of stonechip paint and laquer took me a hell of a long time and the car was on its side aswell
BUMPAROO
I know this is an old thread, But i've just been reading a few threads on restoring the underside of a cars.
It seems on most threads i've read most replies recommend different things, some say hammerite, others 2pack paint, others underseal, others a full repaint from bare metal to etch primers etc
I'm looking just to take the surface rust off and protect the underneath of the car.
Can anyone clarify the best way
