My wastegate keeps getting stuck open on the MR2, had to un-jam it about 3-4 times so far

put a brand new actuator on it and hasn't helped so it must be the wastegate itself causing problems.

can these be sorted DIY (well, by a normal garage) or is it turbo off and sent to a specialist time?

 

my t34 turbo was sticking but would not open very far. when i removed the actuator the wastegate was very tight.
it was a bent arm, needed a new valve fitting. £100 from turbo technics

 

as above WILL need to be taken off tbh!

 

pretty sure it needs to come off, but can it be replaced by a non-turbo specialist?

 

Yes, even you should be able to do it.

just spoke to CR turbos, gonna get the thing sent off to them to sort out max it'll cost me is 195 if i need parts
