Martin Hadland ran electric power steering on his car for about a year before the crash. He would be a good man to ask.

I think MGFs have electric PAS but you will need a suitable speed sensor to make it work..........i think

most cars come with electric pas pumps these days. probably most common (and therefore cheapest and easiest to get hold of) are vauxhall astra, corsa etc.

the only difficulty i see is mating them to a ford steering column and making some hoses up to take the pressure. and mounting them so that they don't vibrate the whole car to pieces.

the citroen one is a stand alone unit fitted on the NSF chassis rail, it has power to it as soon as the engine is started' then all you need is to connect up the pipes from the existing pas rack
sorted!!!

You can use a remote elec hyd pump like a saxo or 106/307 say, or a power column n elec mota like the late corsa n punto etc etc

Use one from a Peugeot; Citroen in that case? Or even some of the late Ashtrays are also remote. A trip round a breakers would prob give you a few ideas.
