hi, bought an old sierra 2.0 dohc a while back just to tinker about with, was planning on going for the 2.9 24v, not gonna spend megabucks on it, its just to get to work etc, keep the good car clean. got a 94 mondeo 24v as a cheap runabout to do the job just now, the mot is up on the mondeo in december so got this inkling now to try and fit it in my sierra . anyone any ideas if there is a ford rwd box that will bolt up to it ? from what i can find out the engine it is in rwd in the jag so do i go for the jag getrag ? its only an idea just now, but it seems silly buying a v6 i know nowt about, when i got one here i use everyday, and after all, would be so much better in the sierra than it is in the mondeo . any info or advice will be greatly appreciated.

 

It has been done before, but there will be loads of fabrication work.

Just drop a 2.9 24v in, they have much more power and simple to fit.

i know the 2.9 is quite a straight forward fit, but it seems daft to me to go buy a v6 when i got one here, which i know is a good runner, not to bothered about the fabrication work, as i am a welder fabricator anyway, was hopin if i used ma engine that the gear box (i think its a mt75 in the car) could cope with it (if it bolts up to it that is) where as if i went to the 2.9, have the expense of getting a gearbox uprated too ! dont want to spend daft money on it, wanted a saff to do a cossie rep but got the old hb for a steal, and its in good enough nick so just gonna tinker about with it the noo till i fiind a decent saff. am saying not gonna spend any money on it but i seem to now own a recaro leather interior and a set of cossie alloys lol, but these will go on the saff when i get it.
