I'm seriously thinking about starting up my own business as a same/next day courier.

Where can I get the insurance policy I need to do this? Will I need one for the vehicle and one for it's contents?

Any other advise about starting up a business is greatly appreciated.

i pay 2k for fully comp insurance,50k per consignment GIT and 2mill employer liab 10mill public liab (think its that)

Advice in this market is dont say no to anything unreasonable, get your name about for reliablity and trust. Advertising locally will help but go for companies that you know will require same day, You wont match service of major companies for nxt day so concentrate on same day. Offer a courier cover service to franchise drivers at other companies and sldo to the companies themselves, will help massivly to keep things ticking over. i find covering holidays is hard work and if i dont do my route and it isnt covered i get billed £150 a day, North west cover is about same price but what you deliver i get paid for so usually you earn me what you charge so break even.

Thanks for your reply, I think I might start making enquiries as to how much my local same day couriers charge so I can get a rough idea of what I could potentially be earning.
