Default GT30 Turbo and dump valves

Has anyone run a GT30 turbo at high boost 2.5+ bar WITHOUT a dumpvalve - either atmospheric or recirc? If so how long did the turbo last?

I find d/v quite annoying and i cant be arsed with messing around to fit a recirc type one, but i know they are there for a reason, so dont want to run no d/v and destroy my turbo without finding out people experiences.

And before anyone says ask your tuner - Mark hasnt tested one without a d/v

you will need one IMO at that level of tune, i wouldnt want to go beyond stage 3 without a DV or re-circ

at worst get a re-circ one to get rid of the noise of DV

Why has Mark not tested one......is that not telling you something.

or, you test your one for Mark, let him know how long it lasts.

Make sure you HAVE a dump valve! I have heard a horror story or 2 about running gt30's without dump valves, and the outcomes were not pretty (neither cheap )

Mark hasnt tested one because every customer seems to have a dumpvalve. i bought one when the turbo was bolted on as i never used one on my t34.

I shall take the advice given here and not take it off lol

I can still get the same amount of discount, but just based on a higher base price at the moment. Crappy exchange rate

wonder why every customer has one though.

everyone does not like the noise and like said above, you can recirculate it if you wish.

take the chance and you know what will happen.

i bought the gt30 from kaliber cossie [steve fitz] off here,it had been run without one and hadnt done a lot, said it was top condition but the bearing housing was shot,so dont run without a dump valve or buy a turbo from him
still waiting on the refund arriving
