i just got a rather strange text from a mate of mine..

"Why didn't you tell me you'd fitted an alarm to your car?"

Basicly i went out saturday afternoon and a 'mate' of mine popped round while i wasn't in to show his mate my car (fuck know's why cos it's a bit of a heap atm) and it turns out, he decided to give him a proper look - i.e tried opening the car up !!!! To say i'm pissed off is an understatement - you don't just go through someone elses care when they aint in !!!

Gotta admit, it's a bit stupid doing it in the first place, but texting to ask when the alarm was fitted and dropping himself in the shit has got to make him even more stupid !!

Who needs enemies with 'mates' like that huh !! Needless to say, the car will be emptied shortly ( it's got loads of mk3 escort / orion spares in it atm )

 

He sounds like a "really good mate" showing some little pikey all your gear

It's making me wonder what would have happened if the alarm hadn't been fitted.. i.e how much of the stuff would be left fortunately the car doesn't run at the moment as the sump is off, but still.. i'm kinda edgy about it

Not for much longer i doubt, i will put up with a certain amount of stuff, but bringing someone i don't know out to my house, showing them all my stuff in my car without me being there or my permission is going a bit past it i think.

 

Apart from being out of order, it sounds like a really weird and random thing to do!

 

Can the car be Locked?

 

The car is locked, but the boot solenoid keeps playing up - hence it was that, that set the alarm off

 

I must be missing something here mate. You obviously trust him if he's a mate, so dont know what harm its done really. Im sure if he's a mate then he wouldnt bring some random scally round to see your car anyway. He obviously thought you wouldnt mind by sending the text?

atleast the alarm works so if anything dodgy was being thought up by your mates mate it may well have put him off!

I've some mates who i wouldnt mind doing something like that, know they wouldn't be up to no good etc...then again, of course i know people who i am friendly with but i wouldn't like them to be in about my car when i'm not about.

That to me sounds like he has come round to nick some stuff out your motor with another mate of his, has opened the door, alarm goes off so he scarpres. Now he is trying to blag it that he was "only showing his mate your motor" as he suspects he may have been rumbled.

 

proberbly got gripped by someone when the alarm went off and used that excuse, then sent the text to cover his back

 

I would happily let anyone who I consider a friend to have a look round my car, but I also know that anyone who did want to would ask me first.

Anyone who didn't would have a bloody shock coming to them!

If he could text you to say that, he could just as easily have text you to say what he was doing beforehand!
