Fuck that, I'm 31 now and I'm happier than I ever was in my twenties. You get happier as you get older as you realise some shit doesn't matter as much as you thought it did
CSM - I went on a diet when I turned 30 and I'm now a stone heavier, go figure!

Happily retired
Well im about the only one on here that can look back on over 60 years & yes it flys by.
IMO 33 is about the best age still young but wiser than at 20.
At 40 you are still striving to better yourself whatever that means but the first real signs that you aint what you used to be appear.
At 50 you realise for the first time that life aint forever & all that striving to better yourself is a pile of poo. At 60 you know you are over the top & can relax into a great life. Retirement is the only place to be, work simply gets in the way of life, retireing at 61 was my best move ever.

Well, my 40th is in February next year, seems to me that since I became a father then the time goes even quicker. I shall retire one month after my 49th birthday, when I shall sit on my expanding ass and shove the proverbial thumb where the sun don't shine. Leaving wifey to carry on working for rather a few more years, bless her...
I am not wishing my life away, just want to stop having to go to work, not too much to ask is it?

yep, before you know it your kids will be sticking you in a nursing home and selling off your house where youll never see them visiting unless they want money from you. then youll die sad and lonely after being beaten by the staff at the nursing home who have been helping themselves to your pension.

I have done a fair bit so far (I think?) Seen a lot of the world, been to war and personally nearly shit myself , got my pilots licence, got a fantastic family etc and loads of good mates, I count myself as very fortunate, but just not sure what to do with the next few years really?

Old customer of mine was in the marines and he left. Set up a company, flies out to the middle east and trains up all the security staff out there to use rifles and all that. His employers pay for everything and then when he gets home he gets a nice pay cheque straight into his account. He loves it and he is his own man.
I really haddent found my career until I was 25. Three years on and I love my work and I'm working my way up the ladder. Life gets a lot better as you get older I found.

Don't worry mate. Maria is 30 next year too
However i think this is why people say live your life. Do what you feel like doing. You don't have to be rich and famous to have a great life.
A man is successful if he wakes up in the morning and goes to bed at night and in between he does what he feels like doing.

I turned 31 just over a month ago Will, 30s arent as bad as i thought, i was dreading turning 30. When i was 20, 30 seemed so far away, and people who were 30 were old! Seemed old, looked old etc. Now i think what a load of bollox, i feel like im still that 20 year old but wiser. I still act 20 the odd time, infact only today ive pulled my leg and right knacker playing cricket in the yard with my busniess partners son, whos 13, trying to show him a thing or two! Thats when ya realise your not 20 anymore, and pulls and strains hurt
Still a fucking quick bowler though i was quite shocked how quick i was hurtling it down the wicket! 16 year since i last played

I'm 26 now and it feels like a fucking lifetime ago i was 18-19. SO much has changed since then, and to be honest i'm happier now than i've ever been. My early 20's were a bit fucking miserable if i'm being honest! Had a shit job, no bird, lived at home, and worked nights so never saw my mates. The only thing i liked about it was the fact i was in my early 20's, other than that it wasn't too great really! Some mad nights out here and there and sleept with some hot girls, but i do all that now, and the nights are as good and it's just always the same girl
My mrs turned 30 a couple of months back and she said it's a relief more than anything. There's so much pressure and worry you put on yourself leading up to it, when you get there, you realise that actually nothing suddenly changes just because you're 30, you're just another year older, all that is lifted off you and you can just get on with your life without having to worry about it anymore.
She's shitting herself about turning 40 though!

Are you still in the RAF? What shift pattern is that?
I used to work on a VAS, 2 weeks days, week nights, week off, so 13weeks off plus my 6 weeks annual leave, so 19 weeks a year off. Them were the days (If I could stand in for anyone it was nights, off, nights, off)
Now I'm in the real world it's back to 29days a year. -genuine tears. (at least I get overtime now)
