not had a good day today.....
yesterday i got the v8 engine back from the builder for my dads 1962 ford thunderbird.we had cleaned and repainted all the engine bay ready for it,so we fitted the short motor in yesterday and got it on the ramp ready for the build to continue today.
had to go in work early to sell a van,but expected my dad to be here early as he was getting quite excited about it yesterday.it got to 10am with no sign of him, which i thought was odd-but he is a self emplyed builder so he could have been anywhere,so i didnt bother to ring him........
found out half an hour later from my sister he had been rushed into hospital as he had been dropping things all morning, then went all funny and couldnt stop shaking, saying he couldnt hear properly and had a hge headache.by the time the ambulance got there he had calmed down a bit but wasnt right.
they still dont know whats happened yet, been doing tests all day and scans.he still has a real bad headache so i think they are keeping him in overnight for observation.
its really shocked me and im a bit numb as my dad is fit as hell, only 59 years old,not overweight or a smoker.
just hope everything is ok and i can get his car finished for him......

its just knocked me for 6 as we're very close, and ive never seen him ill apart from manflu!
the only times i go out drinking is with him to watch rugby,he had started going to american car shows with his car and is really enjoying them.he has always been fit and spends a lot of time at the gym.
they have scanned his head and chest and cant see anything, but i cant go and see him as he is in an observation ward and they are only allowing one person,so my mums been with him......hopefully going afterwards

at least they are keeping him in overnight for observation so if anything is wrong they can deal with it there and then
a few years ago my old dear had a bit of a funny turn, they thought she'd had a heart attack, but overnight in the hospital didn't show anything and she's been fine every since
poerhaps he's just been working too hard and had a sarkozy moment where he's just need knackered?
in any case, hope it's all good news in the morning

just been to see him-seems pretty ok.just got this horrible pain above his eye that wont go away.
there is also some slight bleeding in that eye and blood pressure a bit high.he wanted to go home but we have talked him into staying for a night so they can keep a good eye on him.if he still has the pain in the morning they are on about putting a needle in his back to release any pressure that may be in his head??
apparently the scan on his head showed up as ok,but they think it may be a something small that wouldnt be seen on the scan....
fingers crossed anyway, thanks for the kind words.

I know how your feeling mate my dad's the same age as yours and had never been in hospital in his life apart from birth. When he was 52 i was chilling in the bath and got a phone call to say he was in hospital and had suffered from a heart attack. Proper knocked me off my feet, fingers crossed its just a freak occurrence with your old chap, he is in the best place possible .

Hope he is ok Jay, may have been the blood pressure. He is in the best place and if something is wrong, better to find it now.
My old man has had a few turns, heart attack, diabeties etc, the diabeties has given him some proper scary turns, but acted on fast he is fine. His heart attacked was 14 years ago and his still races round like a blue arse fly.
Grandad had a funny turn aswell, that turned out to be a burst blood vessel in in brain iirc, luckly they kept him in and he is fine now, was brought on by trying to carry to big bags of spuds home at nearly 80!!
It's amazing what they can do now mate and if they pick up on stuff early, all the better.
Hope it's nothing major.

hope he gets through it ok. know what your feeling.
my mum was fit as a fiddle, did the london marathon a couple of times, still ran everyday at 60 years old.
just retired as a teacher and bought a holiday home in france.
then started getting blood clots in her legs, next thing she had cancer and went down hill very fast. died 2 years ago.still brings a tear to my eyes even now.

Keep your chin up Jay, I have no doubt that your dad is in the best place. Stay positive for him and he will be back in no time....just get that engine in to give him something to look forward to and to keep you busy.

Tell him he's gotta come home as that engines gonna be boring fitting that engine on yer own, you need yer dad there to argue with and hide your tools from you

he has just been let home as the results of the fluid from his spine came back quick and were ok.
hopefully a good night in his own bed will help him out........the ward he was on was horriblelots of old fellas on their last legs-lots of alarms going off and nurses running about with all sorts of machinery!
thanks to everyone for their kind words and support-it really does help.
