Default Whats the best rust proofer to use?

Hi

I am finally getting started with cleaning up the underside of my S1 just taking it back to the metal.
To rust proof it and paint it back up diamond white to hopefully get a good few years motoring out of it yet.

Just wondered what kind of rust proofer was popular with the restoration guys on the site?

Cheers in advance for any advice you can share.

Google a website called frosts restorations they have a popular method using a product called marine clean to degrease and prepare the surface for the next stage which is a product called metal ready which kills rust!! then its onto a product called por-15 which is sprayed on or hand painted!! they go into detail on the website so give them a try

I've seen plenty of Mondeo's where they've been more rust than steel!

Anyway, second vote for Granville. It's really heavy duty stuff, and very reasonably priced too

Cheers for that i will look into getting granville as i have heard of good reports in the past, Granville rust cure seems to come in tubs of a 1 litre or 5 litres what would be best size to go for?
As i just plan to do the underside of the car i doubt i would go through the hole 5 litre tub.

Also did you have to use any other chemicals in order to treat the metal before hand or do you just go straight on to working with the granville?

bigryrs when i put granville into google it came up with the Frost rust proofing site so i will have a look round their also and see what's what.

As stated in the previous post above i would much rather drive a tatty old ford rather than a big buffed up BM.

Besides i couldn't afford one anyway (Supposed to have a smiley face but couldn't suss out how to get an icon up)

Cheers guys.
