and if you dont win,you will have spent all day being able to drive your cars how you want to do so....which is surely why you build them like that........ that in itself should be enough to enter- just take a leaf out of andy g's book.

there would be a hell of a lot of interest from all angles should a ford team turn up-every real petrolhead appreciates performance fords and im sure they would love to see some big power cars being driven properly/hard.....and there are some very capable fords out there that would give a good account of themselves.

nice to see some names comitting themselves already-come on!!!

iam entering the fiesta next year,i would have entered this year, but as nobody else was interested,i didnt put any effort into finishing it.

Lloyd, is mike still the cosworth team rep?

Not seen him even nagging anyone to run for a couple of years so didnt realise he still was, I thought they basically had no rep anymore TBH!

If you are going to compete, then it makes sense not having to be manager as well, as nothing worse than having to run around sorting out other people's issues on the day when you want to be running your own car instead!

Most of them, including the guy who won were on 888 toyos.

Specky was on a road legal mickey thompson with proper tread (ie its a pretty soft tyre but isnt one of these pisstake blatant drag ones with just 2 rings around it!)

Thoughts?
Chip i will act as the kick up the arse man, ive just made a file 'totb2010' & on it are the 18 cars mentioned on this thread so far as candidates, I will be asking questions if they dont attend the qualifiers etc.
The youngsters + Martin must put it on the line next year, id prefer you as team manager Chip whats your transfer fee .

PMSL @ transfer fee, I dont think I would be much use as a team manager anyway as I work for the Vauxhall mag so trying to drum up support in it from ford owners would be pretty hard.

Would you be prepared to attend if there was a ford team going rod?

I know that you will probably say you couldnt win, and im aware that may be the case, but you WOULD score points, and its a team event and points count!

There is nothing in the rules saying the team name has to be an exact description of every car entered, I spoke to one of the organisers about it today and they seemed quite happy with the idea if it gets fords back to the event, like I said though, those were just 10 vaguely suitable cars, there are loads more, I forgot Lee Catermole in that list for example with his 3 door and he's a very competitive car, likewise gareth lloyd.
There is DEFINATELY the potential for a proper 10 car ford team out there.
So, purely out of curiosity, how would a Subaru-Engined Ford fit in? Would there be any issue with that?

Same way stevie's vauxhall engined granada fits in I reckon.

Im of the opinion that anything with a ford engine in it, or any ford car with whatever engine in it, should be fair game.

BUT that is up to whoever ends up at team manager (so hopefully Neil as I believe he is the best person for the job!)

I assume Mad Yum has 10 second 1/4 miles all day long? Wenny's MK3 does 10's, and I notice he's always up for things.

Christian, I have to disagree with you too, I always pick a car of the show when I go and last year it was a Vauxhaull Corsa in green. It was an animal, and certaintly never looked put out compared to the bigger cars. Hell, I think he was the loudest for a start, LOL. The day is what you make it, and the Vauxhall lads make it big.

Benni.

I would imagine that its reasonable to expect a 10 from Dave, he would also do well on the top speed, with over 180 I should think.

Again, not going to win either event but if we get enough cars to score points here and there, we could do well as a team.

be nice to see everyones commitment to this ,

blueoval may have a entrant by this time next year all being well ,

not me lol ,

chip just out of curiosity fella

what would you class a fwd ford to have to have to be competitive ?

power and 1/4 mile times wise ?

surely all the high power rsts coming out of the woodowrk mean theres someone out there with enough power ?

ratboy , tim , ollie ect ?

or even have sazkby rst come over with his drag fiesta ?

the chassis and suspension on the fiesta/escort is utter crap, and is unable to keep the tyres on the ground to get traction.so it doesnt matter how much power you have, you still wont go much faster.

theres also the 2 brothers with there mk2 escorts, the blue and red ones are pretty quick ,
charlie shaw and harvey gibbs could also do very well all round,
theres also the rallycross boys that im sure could score points,
there will be lots of others im sure aswell as the folk mentioned already and maybe if fast ford were the organisers for the ford team they could maybe persuade a few of the foreigners over if there allowed to enter

The FWD Vauxhall/Ford thing has been covered a few times on here, and think it was summed up well last time.

Vauxhall's best (accessible/fast) car/engine was FWD, so modders will tend to go mad on those. Where as the natural progression for most FWD RS owners is to go RWD/4x4 Cosworth.

Admitedly that theory kind of goes out the window a little when you then look at the Cosworth camp....but the theory is true. If Vauxhall made a RWD Saff/Escos equiv. (and no a Lotus Carlton doesnt count!) then there would be less interest in the FWD Vauxhall crew....imo of course.

And there's the fact all Fords have shit suspension setups and unrelaible

my mate is at usc this year and could hit 11s this year (orange mk1 fiesta on escos rims) hit a 12.7 last on trackday slicks, this year on MT drags and has had a dose of the laughing gas aswell as sorted a torque steer issue caused by balljoints. Will see how it has improved over weekend but unsure weather he would be interested in this, hes never even been to spectate, does usc and thats it and has done for nearly 10 years?!?!

How are points scored is the first question i wish to ask, how do the fwd score points against say the 4x4 guys serious question. Ive no idea.

It will decide the format of the team.
