I have heard the banks will give you £50 to take it out of circulation, also seen one go for £7k on ebay but don't know if the buyer paid up. I'd just keep hold of it for a while if I had it, maybe sell it to some Yank collector later on.

Put it on EBAY with a £5k reserve. If it does not sell put it somewhere safe (Not your pocket as it will get spent ) and in 10 years these will be very, very rare and worth alot more

mate don't worry about flogging it now. HOLD ON TO IT. Its worth SERIOUS bucks. But do not sell it now as you won't get what its worth. Keep it for a few years and when there is none left on Ebay, whack it up and i bet you'll get a few Gs for it!!!

I assume you have heard of the fake one pound coins that have been made by fraudsters?

If a 20P coin is now worth 50 quid or more, surely it would be the perfect thing to fraudulently make, as its a lot simpler than a pound in the first place and now is worth potentially as much or more than a 50 pound note.

So I reckon its reasonable to suppose someone will start banging them out!

DONT TAKE THEM INTO BANKS, A BANK WILL NOT GIVE YOU £50 FOR ONE, THEY WILL GIVE YOU 20P

the royal mint however will give you £50 for them, so you need to speak to the Mint rather than a bank!
