Default Measuring cam lift.

How do you?

Just been going thru lots of junk and just wanted to make sure the cams i got are std before i sell em, as i remember the bloke reckoned they wernt, but everyone tries that bollocks...

you need to measure the radius of the largest part of the 'egg' and the radius of the smallest part. the lift is the difference between the 2. it's actually much easier to do with the cam in situ using a dial gauge or something.

DTI on closed valve, set it to zero, then rotate the cam until a max reading is shown on dti. That is peak lift.

To measure duration, use the same tool but also a protractor on the crank, and measure how many degrees the dti indicates any form of valve lift for...

Right, as im a thicko and think of better words to use right now, bear with me...

I need to measure the big bit/lobe height compared to the normal lobe height (ie the bit underneath the big bit/lobe)?

Right, gone round a mates and robbed his snazzy electronic digital measuring calipers to do the lift

Any way of measuring duration without it being in the head and using a dti?

My mate started doing diagrams of cam lobes and triangles n shit so i just left as i didnt have a clue
