Hi
Just got back from Brunters, a great but very wet day.
0-60 over 6s tells you how wet.
Was asked by Adrian to make sure the gearing would do 185. Needed 7600rpm to do that & it did it despite the weather. Think 187 is possible in this car given better conditions.
Adrian did first run at 181.5 & he had braked as late as he thought possible, so then handed over to the Sheadmiester who did a 183.3 just shading my record, despite missing a gear change ( never could drive) so went for a third run. On the limit & the grass around the bend he keep his foot in very late & then he lost it at 150 under braking, he looked very white when he returned. 185.5!!!
No dyno figures on this standard looking Saff but its one of Marks Long Rod GT30 engines. The last one made 521bhp /482ft-lb & this one i expect had the same.
Would have won the Daddy Thrash by 9.6mph in much worse conditions, Food for thought their lads cos this car had less horses than some were claiming that Day.
WELL DONE THE MAD MAN.

Good day today this record breaking is becoming a habbit , Rod was the first to shake ADE hand at beating his old record,
The car ran perfect all day did not miss a beat and drove home,
Brunters was very slippery today very slow on to the main straight and scarey under braking didnt help on stock brakes ,
I did manage to get on the grass in 4th and then go sideways under braking also , But I think the result was worth it .

Brunters 15.12.04.
Hi Guys, 185.5 mph is quite a speed! I managed 181.5mph in the wet on my first ever visit to Brunters on my second lap and bottled. I knew the brakes were not the best but they have not failed me over the the last few years doing track days but 7500 rpm in top is scary. I must say that Balck Diamond discs, Ferodo DSP pads, dot 5.1 and stainless hoses have worked well to date, but I know now that AP's and 330 discs are now a must. I did'nt realise the kind of reaction we had created today, it has been mind blowing! But there again, it isn't every day you break a record that Rod has held for this long. I have prayed for dry weather for the last two months that we have tried to arrange this but this was the best that we had so we did our best and it did the job. :
