I prefer the Rs the way it looks, the drive.

Both good cars, considering the prices.

What do you want from it?

Refinement and plenty of grunt, get the ST.

Fun, lairy, noisy, hard riding loony machine (and amazing track toy), get the RS. Loved mine.

It's best to test drive both cars and see what you prefer to be honest.
Ive got mates that have the mentioned.
IMO I prefer the RS as overall car, Something about them.

what do you want from the car?
and what do you use it for?
is it your only car or a weekend toy?

rs mate , much better looking car , just something special about the extra wide track and the flared arch etc which you dont get with the st , i also think that the st is the poor mans rs
cheers paul

Had both and both are completely different in character.
standard V standard i would pick the ST as the power is much better,
handling the RS can reward alot more if your committed.
handling on ST is very good, through a set of long winding roads it is so nice to drive.
interior in RS is chavy. ST's is much more nicer and better quality and fitment.
engines: RS duratec is a very good plant but the 2.5 5pot is just better, sound, torque etc.
looks...i think the RS does look the better of the 2.
but the most interesting fact and this will be shocking!
everyone loves the ST! i get so many people especially women giving compliments on the car. RS never got that, strange but true!
To live with on a dailey basis i would pick the ST all the time but for something special for that track day or weekend thrill the RS.
really is a case of what you like.
both cars modified are awesome.
residuals the RS will win that

Cheers again,

Well, it will be used as and when really. Not a weekend toy as such but again not a daily runner! I agree on the interior of the RS ive never liked it and its one thing that puts me off. From the outside, the FRS looks awesome imo, but overall looks i thik the ST has it....hence me asking on the other characteristics of the two as ive never been in either!
Hmm, not really going into the ST is a poor mans RS crap as thats rubbish. You can say that about all cars. The ST costs more than the RS for a start although i know it wont hold as much value. If i didnt need two cars and the van AND we werent ecxpecting another baby i would have ordered the new RS but thats not gonna happen now. We are changing the Audi A3 in october for Lindsay and im fancying something more useable than the RSi.

Nice predicament to be in. Never owned either so hard to say. Exterior I would say RS, interior ST. With the ST you have a choice of colours, and with having kids you get the choice of 5 doors

Hmmm red for me if i went ST. Would have to be ST-3 3 door too.

Will have to drive both. TBH, as wer are getting shot of the A3 in october, to get something cheaper, i may buy both. ST for linz RS for me then can have a swap about.

Look at FastFord mag June issue with the RS V ST Thrash. Enough decent examples there with various tuning levels. Easy to point out the pro's and con's of each car!

Dreamscience and Bluefin do chips for both cars I've got a dreamscience unit on mine and it adds about 40bhp and 80lbft roughly

One of the best mods for the ST is eibach springs Makes it sit nicely and handle better

That cloth interior is the only thing that spoils the ST1 & 2. Its horrid looking, too light in colour.

I wasnt a fan of full leather before getting the ST3. I am now, bit hot in the summer but i'll just have to cope. If they did half leather in the ST, I would have that. In my Mk1 Focus Collection, I put an ST170 interior in and it was a big improvement.

The RS will hold its value where the ST will only drop in price.Look at the prices of the ST170s compared to the RS,s.

rs all the way mate.... there at a good price the now... a seen 1 for £8000?????? thats cheap
but I think that if you keep a hold of it for a bit you will get morre cash back for it as the new rs is out now and the prices will go mental soon I think
the chassie of the rs is a good one!!!
my mate has a st, chiped and its fast pops and bangs like flock..... there both good cars but st is heavyer and not many about unlike a st!!!! up 2 you at the end of the day but it would nothing to yhink about

ST, get and LSD springs and thicker roll bars and might handle nearly as good as the RS.

Would have the RS myself the ST is pretty nose heavy. Nice cruiser but not useable in the same way the RS is....

Quick Reply: Focus RS mk1 or Focus St-3 ?
