Mk2 Focus RS vs Mk1 Focus RS vs Escort Cosworth *autocar vid*

Fair point but the reality is that most escorts will be 330bhp with newer suspension/bushes and tyres which evens things up!
When evo group tested the Mcars they used a CSL with bigger brakes, different tyres and exhaust-simply because thats how most of them are!
The newer cars are better though, thats just the way it is.

CSL tested was tuned by a Third Party Company not BMW themselves. If it was BMW then thats a different Story. However, i think the Escort WAS the greatest hothatch but the Focus RS has taken the crown again. + That gap between the Escort will increase once Ford release the Official Ford Upgrade package for the new RS.

Mental note to FRS mk2 owners that are new to the Ford scene.
"It's not very likely that the Escort Cossie standing next to you at the stop light and who you are about to race got 227bhp....."

It doesn't hurt me, my 3 Door "RWD" would smoke all 3 of them
Just think it's pointless having a straight line race with cars of different BHP as I keep saying the car with most BHP will always win.
I've never said the Mk2 RS isn't a great car because it is and I think the Mk1 RS is the best looking out of the three and the Escort will probably always be the most iconic.
So thats it now i'm laying this thread to rest now, well as far as i'm concerned feel free to continue to argue amongest yourselfs.

Well the Escos would beat both to 60 think we can agree that, and the Escos would beat the MK1 over the 1/4 as well deffo as most standard Cossies only do about 80 ish over the 1/4, so if peoples guesses are wrong about the MK2 passing it at 60 and maybe its 80, then the Escos could also possibly beat the MK2 over the 1/4 as well .
Just to put the cat amongst the pigeons how about this clip then, and the guy in the MK2 is deffo trying as he's lifting a wheel into the corners.
Both modern cars etc, just the MK2 costs about £10,000 more !

That turned out pretty much as i thought, lets face it ford aren't silly enough to build a new rs model that's slower than the one they build 15 years ago. I would still have an escort because thats my childhood dream car but that new rs is a fooking weapon.

lol at everyone "pub talking". who cares
All 3 cars in the vid we have to assume are standard, so why argue about theoretical whos quickers when modified.
The article is about the 3 cars as a whole package, not just power power power
I feel the presenter was spot on about all 3 cars.
And its true what he says.
When your in the escort, it fails to live up to its ledendery status. I dreamt of owning one from 6 years old, when I finally got one it was great dont get me wrong but also a dissapointment.
The cosworth is not a lot of car for a lot of money!
If I was in the market for another ford and had £20k it wouldnt be an escort next time round!
