my skylines gonna be 600 hp :)
took it to tr racing yesterday and rob said the last map would of been 1.2 bar max and i know it was on premium unleaded fuel and was 535 fwbhp.
if my crank is knackered im gonna have brand new crank, wiseco pistons, uprated oil pump and head check and new metal gasket.
i want to run 1.5 bar like a stage 3 cossie and rob said should be around 600 fwbhp on the twin gt28s

Statements like this annoy the hell out of me. Why do YOU want to run 1.5 bar??? And what has a stg3 cossie running 1.5 bar on a different turbo got to do with it?
I hate when people state the boost they'd like to run when tbh you should just let the mapper set it up to get the max out of the car. What if you could safely run more power but boost higher than 1.5 bar?
Leave it to the mapper to decide how the car boosts!

its got to do with stage 3 cossies are pretty reliable !
do you think i havnt spoke to tweenie rob about it already, to run 1.5 bar needs better pistons and oil pump to be reliable hense why i want to change them. or gotta stick at 1.2 otherwise.

I think what the Chopmeister is saying is that it's not right to have a target figure of how much boost you want to run. The mapper should map it for how much boost is actually useful. It might be that a particular set-up may only be good at 1.2 bar for example. You can't compare a 6 Cylinder Twin Turbo Skyline with a Stage 3 Cossie in any way really.

Cheers, exactly what i mean.
SURELY you get fuckwits coming in demanding how to set their boost? How do you deal with that? Surely it'd compromise the map at times and risk the name? You surely tell them to fuck off or do it themselves?

whos demanding anything as said it was on the back of conversation with tuner.
how can it compromise the map if the boost is a bit lower than what can be run safely.
you get FUCKWITS on forums too

i dont think you get it tbh. just because it will run 2 bar boost doesnt mean you have to does it !
surely you understand a car at 1.5 bar will be more reliable and last longer than the same car at 2 bar.

Jesus wept.
You think the CAR is more reliable? Maybe the turbo gets an easier life but thats it.
Mappers map car to a safe reliable limit dont they? You think people map things that are ticking time bombs?
Jesus
Point is usuaully the owner leave the boost desisions to their mapper

I'm going to stick my oar in. This is how I see it, I think a fairly standard conversation has got lost in translation. The way I see it is thus:
Scooby Slayer wants to run 1.5bar not as a specific boost pressure he's chosen, but in relation to the fact the car will run 2.0bar for safety (or whatever). Obviously the car will be mapped properly whatever boost it has, but Scooby Slayer would rather trade reliability for power and thus doesn't mind if it's only running 3/4 of it's capable boost.

the car will be more reliable end of. less boost = less air in engine per cycle = less cylinder pressure.
i am hoping for 600 bhp max and no more. drivetrain will be out of its safe zone at that.
theres always one, and today its lambchop

sorry if ive misunderstood but thats basically how it reads to me.
and yes i choose a car 50 bhp down to gain engine and drivetrain longevity any day of the week.
im a very money orrientated person and i openly admit that.
and i am not planning on loosing any money on the car hence want it reliable as possible.

tbh ive had 1.5 bar in my head from the start as imo its a reliable area for turbos to run.

skyline
if you like to drive a car you'll find a 600 bhp skyline really really boring. Yep theyre quick but it drives itself. My last one had way over that and it was as boring as fuck. just my opinion. Tried the 500bhp rs500 as well, and the best car to drive i hadwas a Paul Bailey built 400 bhp 3dr. Really good FUN, yep thats the word fun as opposed to boring. No offence we're all different. I really hope you love the new engine

He wanted 20psi (cant remember car or spec) but was addament on having 20psi. Karl said it would run faster and cooler on 1bar as CT's and turbo life would suffer, but no he wanted 20psi.
As I remember, he got the 20psi (customer paying I guess) but was back a week later to wonder why it was 'holding back' after a good thrash

car
As i said i really hope you enjoy it. I wouldvr thought bhp per £ that a 500 bhp cossie lump wouldve been quicker than a 550 skyline do to all transmission loss. Anyway enjoy!!

thats a good point but not applicable as i want to run less boost than it can handle, not more.
