Chip - maybe have a chat with the guys at MEV (kit car company)? They've built an electric kit car. That uses about 12(?) lithium batteries. The way I would imagine these are used, is lots of cells in series to get a high voltage, then an inverter vsd (pwm output for dc motors) to drop this down to the motors working voltage and get your speed control. Siemens do VSD's for under a grand that get close to your power level - not sure if the DC versions are more expensive, though....

very big market if you do!!! Weve had 4 go in at manchester hospital, 4 at State Street, Canary Wharf, 2 at RAF Conningsby in the past 12 months alone, and that the ones Ive seen. If you can get rid of the stinky arsed diesel and unbeleivable noise they generate your on to a right winner
anyway, back on topic, sorry chip

Lithium stuff is still too expensive.

Surely by offering many solutions to a problem you have, you can make decision.
Taking the piss for giving those solutions/options is not in the spirit of the comunity !
Perhaps if I was someone else, you wouldnt have done so !
Id already said very explicitly I wasnt interested in speed control mate.
And I couldnt care less who replies if the info is relevant to what I want to know.
