Default Towing, trailers, legals, where????????

Right I'll try and be brief. Mate of mine has a 1999 Subaru Legacy twin turbo. A few years back it spun a/several big end bearings, clunked a lot and the oil pressure vanished. Ever since it has sat in his garage in its component parts.

Now he has a guy who will rebuild the motor and get it all going at a very reasonable price. Problem we have is the car is in Welwyn Garden City and the guy is in Chelmsford. We had got a trailer we could have borrowed but it will only hold a car up to Focus size.

The tow vehicle will be a Vauxhall Vivaro 2.5TDi. Now the questions;
1. What sort of trailer do we need?
2. Where could we get one from (hiring)?
3. Do we need anything specific on the lisence for that trailer?
4. Anybody have a better solution?

You can borrow my trailer, Im near Chelmsford so you'll just have to drive here first. Ask Dave Nonad, he knows my trailer and where I live.

thats a nice offer from Paul there Steve, kinda a mission to get the trailer, but a mission is always good, have towed it a few times, and frankly you could put a tank on it, nevermind a Legacy!

HSS hire out some nice big twin axle car trailers, i think i paid 50quid for 24hours use.

licence wise, if u passed before 1997, you wil have the entitlement as standard, if not, then u need to have a b+e entitlement test, hassle and costs wedge.

towing vehicle wise, id say a 2.5 vivaro is plenty heavy and powerful enough to do the job, so no worries there

depends when you passed your test on what you can tow. before 1997 up to 8 ton i think. and after 1997 3.5 ton combined weight using an A-Frame
