Yes it was a 500 AND the accident is un-recorded AND the ID is for sale - all stated in the advert. Very legal Pete.

Deano i'm not sure that would be the case legally! Just change the shell and keep the same reg? I would have thought it would be classified as built from parts, as that's what it is.

If the shell is previously unused and not registered with any numbers there isnt a problem

I have a friend whos shell was rotten he managed to get a new shell , took it to Ford who stamped it up for him ( although a couple of prefixs were a bit out of height with the rest )

And hes still running that car today , not illegal at all

Ok tell me how exactly you would know a brand new shell had been used, if all numbers are present and correct .

Deano I still don't buy it sorry! If he had told the DVLA what he had done they would have come round and stuck it on a Q plate in my view.

FFS not this shite again...!!!
If you reshelled the above car into a NEW shell, you could use the RS500 id legally. There is no "grey area" here. Main dealer bodyshops do this all the time to nearly new cars...
If you were to use a SECONDHAND shell, the car would LEGALLY need to use the ID from the secondhand shell

ie I could buy that car from Pete, reshell it into a NEW shell and it would be a "proper RS500"

Half the cars on this BB have different engines, gearboxes, interiors from what they had when they were new, does that mean we should Q plate them/crush them as well?

But my point is .................. he didnt need to inform DVLA , no numbers were altered , another ID wasnt used , he didnt respray it another colour no amount of doors were added/taken away

And I bet if a DVLA inspectorate came round they wouldnt have a clue either

deano as i know a guy whos car was randomly inspected by dvla and discoverd it was a reshell and was gonna fooking crush his restored pride and joy

serious talking was made and begging and they Q plated it , that was them doing him a favour

so selling cars id's but no shell is that right or wrong is what i am genuinly interested in

who cares anyway as none of us as gonna buy the i.d off the rs500 anyway!

if u buy the i.d u have 2 choices:
1.) buy a brand new shell & reshell it legally with the rs500 reg plate. (legal)
2.) buy a 2nd hand shell & put the number in urself! (elegal)

if u chose to do number 2 whos gonna know anyway???????

most of the cars on the road 2day are ringers!

ive stripped a few rs turbo's & its amazing what u find out when u take the carpet out!

if ur gonna build an rs500 from a bare shell u wouldnt sell it anyway. unless ur mad!
