Airtec intercoolers
Ok, I know Pro-Alloy are the daddies and that everyone will tell me to buy one off theirs instead, but heres the thing...
I'm planning a rebuild of my Focus turbo and I'm eyeing up a new cooler, the Airtec is only 600notes and the Pro-Alloy version is getting on for double that. Having seen the good test results from the Airtec version (25 degrees @ 21 psi and 30bhp increase on an FRS) I really doubt that the PA version will much different in terms of performance.
I have absolutely no doubt that it will be better made and be prettier than the Airtec, but its going behind the bumper and you only see the main cores anyway, so not too fussed.
So my question is really, am I missing something? Is there some hideous problem with these I'm not seeing? Cos the Airtec seem to tick all the boxes, but I'm always worried when things seem to good to be true
Cheers,
Si

my car was used for the RS500 style intercooler test in Fast Ford Magazine, PA only just won on BHP, but from memory the ACT's where substantialy lower, the actual build quality of the pro alloy one was far superior to the airtec and a hell of alot lighter.
If none of the above matters to you, the airtecs are a bit of a bargain tbh, but PA are a very nice piece of kit

20K+ Super Poster.
My temps were ace with the airtec, cell temp was 19C and even after nearly three hours work inlet was 26C at full whack.
As said bloody heavy, as heavy gauge used, so should be tough as well, not the prettiest but like you I'd rather have function, the money saved(over pa) could be better spent elsewhere as well, bonus!!

I really would love a Pro-Alloy, as they are stunning, but its just the money side of it.
