Due mainly to 3 things.
1) If the fuel pressure or cam timing is slightly different to the mapped spec it will drive awfull and drink fuel. Borewash IS a possibility.
2) If the spec YOU give me is wrong, at 30+psi, your engine WILL melt. And you will happily blame me just cos you were fobbed off by the modder about the engine spec. lol
3) I dont believe in just throwing a chip in an old car and expecting all the ancillaries to just cope with 400+ and the fuel and voltage it requires. In most cases, it wont.
I want to see the car in person and ascertain suitability for that much horsepower and to date, i dont recall seeing a car that needed absolutely NOTHING changing to make it suitable, thus backing up my stance on this issue.

Testing the future
very interesting.
will have a think about it stu. am planning on going to SECS sometime, so it's just a question of economics. i've got a week to think about it.

Stu - you say standard configuration, mine is a 2wd blocked bore by 1mm with 4x4 oversized pistons fitted (lower comp), it'll have a group A filter, mongoose exhaust and a 500 style cooler and i wana go stage 3, do i need a live map or will this spec be a standard config or does it have more 'potential'?
The engine has done 9k on the rebuild and i'll be running a T3 for a while.

Will be no problem Pete.
I dont personally recomend most peps bother live mapping greens as we have so many near perfect configurations its not really necessary.
However,
If your lowered comp you will never get the most from her with greens and i suggest greys and at least a T34 pal.

Greys! i know i really need a T34 but i've just brought my first house so will be a while before i can save and move money around so the other half doesn't see it going missing
It's standard 4x4 comp i think, i have the full list when it was rebuilt so i can tell you when the time comes.
Thanx for the info though, ill keep buying bits at a time, i WILL defo becoming to you though mate, need to ask about managment also as it's still on L1 but that'll be nearer the time
