Default Results for me and SBD16V at the pod this weekend

Rob got a 12.1 @ 124 (now officially the fastest astra in the UK) despite the fact he was still on trackday settings as he was interested to see what the car does in EXACTLY the trim it is on track rather than when its drag prepped, bet he is gutted now though as thats so close to 11s that he might have had a real chance if he had reset the geometry and swapped to 15s!

I got a 12.9 on my nova, @103 mph, I only went flat out in first and second though, then just cruised through the other gears as I had a lean spot, until that spot I was ahead of Rob though, my 330ft was 5.37 and IIRC his was 5.5something.

I richened it up a bit for the next run, and it pulled lovely through the first 3 gears but then when I went into 4th I discovered the cause of the leaness, the jenvey fuel rail couldnt handle the boost even (after I had re-enforced it during fitting) and it relieved clamping pressure on the O ring seal in injector number one and was allowing it to leak, couldnt run again after that, as I will need to fix that problem first.
Found out in a quite dramatic way, the fuel caught fire, lol, luckily no major damage though, just a bit of loom to remake.

Will be interesting to see what mine can do when it gets a proper run.

Yes mate, the engine was specced out by me and rob initially and I mainly built it while Rob helped on some bits first of all, since then the spec has evolved a little and rob has rebuilt it fully himself this time, and I have mapped it for him as he cant afford to pay someone who knows what they are doing so he has to settle for me

that's good news mate

will you be writing it up for a mag then or was this purely in the intrests of arsing about

this is the bit i can't understand mate, are you saying that the boost was backing up the inlet of the head and pushing out injector number one?

i've sen this happen before, but only in the case of mine and squeaks sierra's where the little 3mm plate used to hold the extra 2 injectors in situ that were stuck into the plemun isn't quite man enough to handle a bar of boost, but not heard of this happening to injectors fitted to the head

is it a simple re-engineering fix or back to the drawing board?

I dont remember the whole strip, Rob should be able to post.

Think it was
60ft 2.2
330ft 5.5
1/8th 8.3
1/8th mph 96

If its not that, it was certainly along those lines, lol

Well, all the "baldy mapped" (as rob puts it, lol) cars seem to be doing pretty well so far, not had any complaints, so yeah I guess thats true to a certain extent, I was only making a tongue in cheek comment as some people look down on "home" mappers thats all mate.

quickest astra 12.1.......

i ran my mates astra in the vid posted by danneth and did a 12,8, first time out in his car, with 17's on prada's, no diff, and 35 psi as we drove it there, also full road trim and sparewheel still in boot,

so you think strip it out? some 888's with big walls on 16's with less psi and it may do a 12?????

i wasnt sayin the mk4 gsi of my mates would do a 12, it was more a questiion,

the car still isnt finished tbh,
it made 437 bhp at 1.5 bar, on a GT3076 turbo, with forged bottom end, standard head and cams, and std inlet, DTA p8 pro, and siemens injectors
nortech echaust manifold and downpipe,
and runing a bit rich at 10.8 : 1 to be safe, map 2 will be for draggin when rest of spec is done

mods still to come are nortech inlet manifold, more boost (2.2 bar) and an LSD,

am quite sure there will be some big things happening with his car i just hope he keeps letting me drive it lol

well i belive blesprint was untill this weekend 2 weeks ago the fastest with a 12.4 , then a lad with a big build 8v run a 12.3, the lad that now owns russ's old mk2 ran 12.3 on saturday, then i ran 12.1 today

and yes there are several with big specs, i will not be at the top for close to as long as i was in the first place then bluesprint was for the past 2 years.

its got all the right bits in the bottom end too tho,
and fully lightend and balanced, was even balanced with the clutch on and the aux pully to get it perfect,

and it is a z let, not a c let,
i know you probably know lol, but somone reading thread might not realise,

i love his car lol, yesterday when i ran the 12.8, first thing i said to him was,
"do ya a straight swap for my focus Rs and 3 door" lol
