Worlds apart! I've had two ST24's which were both great cars but not a patch on the 220 I've got now, as it should it does everything better, looks, power, interior, handling, toys.......
The only thing I noticed is that the 220 needs to be driven a bit harder to get the best out of it and you dont feel the speed as much because its much better build qaulity than the old ST24. The 220 dont seem to be as effortless as the 24 low down, but you can still tootle about in 5th (6th newer ones) as low as 25mph and pull away. There pretty quick when you wind them up and the handeling is very good for a big car.

I would definitely say so. A friend had the ST24 years ago, I drove it a few times and liked it but never thought it was all that great. I lusted after a BMW 330i and eventually got one, and I felt the BMW was miles better.
However, I moved from that to an ST220 which I prefer! (and it's a bit faster if you know how to get the best out of it) It's a few years younger than the 330 and lower mileage, and I made the change for zero net cash...
As someone else said, you do have to work the 220 hard to get the full performance as it is a revver rather than a torquey slogger but my god it's worth it, and not exactly a chore as it's extremely free revving and sounds fantastic doing it. I don't remember the ST24 sounding any where near the way this sounds.
