My son just bought an Escort RST off ebay , looks a nice car.
Just wish it wasnt sooooooooo far away , but what the hell, up at 5 to drive down to Southampton,!!!!!!!

Hope he is happy when we get there, the add seemed honest enough. Been trying to get him in a RS for a while , if it sucks he will blame me lol

Game on lol,,,, when i bought my 3 door i was living in Munich, bought the car from North london rs centre.

hour drive to freidrichshafen , board the plane to stanstead, taxi ti Barnet, then drove the car all the way back through france to home in munich ,,,,, that was a long day the taxi to barnet cost more than the flight lol

i can recommend making the 5 hour journey into 7+ by making the trip and adventure. go in a se7en, plot the route on tomtom and go the country lanes. this way the trip is far more interesting than the purchase, then you can be objective about the car and dont care if you buy it or not cos you have another viewing trip next week.

i drove from essex to southampton to look at and buy a mk1 escort 4 door in purple velvet with a pinto under the bonnet.took 5 hours coming back as it was smoking like a bastard.later turned out it had melted no4 piston and was sucking oil fumes up but it got me home in the heat,temp gauge not working,overheating,smoking in middle of a hot may day whilst others were broken down,i trundled home.god bless old fords

Did similar trip to get 16i, 2 weeks running. Went from salisbury to preston 1st saturday to look at the car and following week again to pick it up!! 1100 miles total.

year later AJC did same trip to buy car back from me!

yes mate that was us,our kid was chomping at the bit to drive it home , but no insurance was a no no.
When you lot went past he was even more gutted.
Car seems nice enough, and better than some we have seen., sure he will enjoy it .

place was called Botley iirc, white s2 on a G, white Venoms lol, had big folder of history some good some bad!!!!,, the bloke had a tatoo on his arm Mozza i believe.
The car is unfortunatly on the vic , since 1993,,, shame they didnt mention it in the add, we only noticed it in the folder when we got back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
