On my Cossie you needed to rotate the rear caliper pistons to get them back in.

Wonder if the same on a mondy?

You can get a proper brake caliper pushing back tool for this exact purpose.

If like a vw a big lump hammer and a joint splitter to act as the turning tool thing works for me.
Presume bleed nipples are slackened off?

My Focus and my old mundano needed the piston rotating back in. I used narrow nosed pliers and it wasn't the easiest but i didn't have the correct tool. Theres a cut out to locate on a block on the back of the pad too.

I'm getting a tool before the next time to save the grief.

takes a bit of effort to get started, try turning the opposite direction then back to get some movement. took ages on one side when i did them on my focus then the other side was a piece of piss!

When i changed mine on my Mondeo 2003 i undone the brake fluid cap and then used a grinder disc changing tool to wind the pistons back in worked a treat

Thanks chaps.....dead easy to turn without the tool, just build up caliper again without disc or pads on....its then mounted solidly and you can get to the bit you need to turn with some needle nosed pliers ( not nice ones you wanna keep tho! )

if youve already done it fair enough but buy the tool for next time, alot easier and not that expensive and you can change the bits for other cars.
