Yes mate, was working towards my first amateur bout at the end of this year but got very ill in may so that went outta the window. It's great fun, hard work and when you start up makes you realise just how unfit you are. I'd say the opposite of brad, when you really start to get into it you get fed up of going into work... full stop! you just want to train all day and count down to 5:30 like never before!
Good luck mate,
Ben

My dad used to take youngsters for training down at our local boxing gym, he had been doing it for over 30 years and has sparred the likes of ray close, david lowry and others. He retired about 10 years ago at 55 years old and was still sparring proper fighters. Not the mate that everyone knows/has thats a kickboxing champion age means nothing mate.

Nath you wont be put in the ring until you are ready to and when you do it will only be a light sparing session until you are ready or indeed if you want anything more.

The idea behind sparring (in learning situations) is not to hurt u or your opponent, its to teach you movement timing etc.. and put all the things you have been learning into practice.
