Air lock or seized thermostat - water won't flow
I thought my thermostat was seized so have replaced it with a brand new 88 degree one. My engine is 450bhp.
The water flows from the header tank, fills the radiator, get as far as the swirl pot but does not pass the thermostat (still) and instead finds its way back to the header tank via the breather pipe from the swirl pot. It is not passing the themostat and passing through the turbo as it should.
The only thing i haven't done is test ts with the header tank cap ON. I was unsure if this would cause too much pressure and cause problems - does thee pressure have to be there for the water to pass the thermosat? I don;t think it has to...any ideas on whats wrong?
cheers

you may have a duff stat. with the thermostat out of the car pop it into a pan of water and bring to the boil and watch to see if opens, ideally a thermometer would be good to see if it opens at the correct temp.
