Default new alloy 200 block, thoughts/complaints

Am in the process of commiting financial suicide by rebuilding my 4x4 sapphire, will have bare metal respray and so on (made a list which is two pages long so far) but will also be getting a new yb motor built for it, "my problem" is that I have seen the new alloy block cosworth they do and really like it, will plan for about 400 - 500bhp and would like your thoughts on the block, any problems/troubles found with it, I know the steel block is just as good but will be a show/go car and would like it to have that little bit of extra "bling" (hate that word)
anywho let me know: good or bad

cheers

Not had any problems with my purchase earlier in the year and for the money i think is very good value in the long term. My build is nothing ground breaking but i don't see it being drastically weaker than the old blocks floating about, failure I would be confident in putting down to the builders/spec error or errors in mapping than saying its a chocolate block.

What sort of weight saving is there over the cast iron blocks?

Any other advantages with the alloy block?

Loads and you will have better heat dissipation too

Also they feature different deck heights and offer more meat for long studs etc

Just wondered if the weight loss was quantifiable in terms of kg/lbs?

Ah, just found it - the alloy ones are around 21.5kg, so about half the weight of a cast iron one.

Good to know they're still churning out components for the cars anyway

These alloy blocks offer more advantage for the higher power output specs then - say over 400bhp?

Losing 22kg from the nose of the car can't hurt though I guess
