Even if the wastegate could control the boost, wouldnt of done much good when the map was a restricted WRC one...

I'm sure I remember Rod saying hardly anything comes out of his screamer pipe though.

Anyway, hasn't this thread already been done a long time ago and Paul himself had to come onto the site.

That post was before the engine was took apart and cool pics taken.
That post was before a lot of well respected tuners (not just harvey) had seen the map and seen the datalogging which proves who was 100% in the wrong here.
That post was before there was enough evidence to sue if you wanted...

dont know about that one only what he was told to connect his water injection up to and it melted a hole in the ecu first time water was sprayed.

It might have been the water pump to be honest but I was told it was the fuel pump which was connected to a 700ma rated output on the ECU directly instead of through a relay. It was probably the WI and not the fuel pump as it now looks like....

I haven't spoken to him for ages to be honest. I knew he was having problems but haven't seen him to ask him about them...

I'm sure i would have done pal but as you didn't get the turbo.map or ecu i was running, your engines power will be dependant on what YOU do with it and not what i/Paul did anyway

Can't comment on engine builds, but
Paul mapped my Stage-1 4x4 Cosworth put it on the rollers 266bhp. I was happy with the results and the costs.

The first time I saw those wastegate pics I utterly pissed myself. And they are just as shocking today.
I reckon that wastegate set up would struggle to regulate boost if the car was running a T2 let alone a GT35...

Terms like what "you cannot complain if your engine map is infact for a restricted 300bhp WRC car and not for your engine spec in the slightest"?

Not that this is any defence of Paul, but if the datalogging picked up a reading of 3.6 bar, then as the Pectel reads absolute pressure, this would be 2.6 bar gauge pressure (a mere 37.7 psi not the 50 that peeps are jumping to .

TBH i dont think the wastegate pics, or the destruction pics are the issue really.

There "could" be a defence agaisnt that, ass lickers could say "oh its bad luck" or "oh he wanted the wastegate like that"
(and even if someone did as a tuner to do that, why would a tuner let a car leave that wasnt working properly, and if it wasnt totaly fine, how is there a RR graph? The Trubador way? )

BUT

The fact is the car was on T6 managment with datalogging and the engine map wasnt password protected, so a number of well known and respected tuners have seen the map and/or datalogging and said the map isnt for that engine (ie mad power GT35 job coming on for 600bhp) at all, its for a restricted 300bhp WRC car, and wouldve blown it sky high soon as given any grief, regardless of wastegate control, thas like running 25psi and T4 on a std chip with no boost limiter...
And the datalogging also proves the wastegate control was woefully shite as it shows the explosion happened at 50odd psi boost at jus over 6000rpm
