its pot luck i'm afraid, some fail at 400 some fail at 600

if i was running more than 450, i'd rather have a turkish block long studded than a 205 block

a copy of the 200 blocks made in turkey out of inferior materials - basically more prone to failure

ah right, thought it would of been something like that.

what normally fails on them? as if they are cheap enough would you not be able to line them with liners and long stud them?

they can fail at different places

liners dont stop them from failing, Dave (mad yum) had his lined and the liner moved and engine failed IIRC

although that was an extreame engine

ah right, thought being cheap materials the cylinders would of failed due to the pressure etc hence the liner question...

shame they are cheap materials as they would be worth weight in gold if they were decent... does anyone cast decent copies of the blocks?

still quite a few 200 & 205 blocks about

Cosworth make an alloy block replacement, but have had no experience of them so cannot comment on strength, i believe mark shead at MAD was looking into them, there is a thread on here somewhere about them http://www.cosworth.com/shop_item.php?productid=470
