2ltr DOHC
then it's not going to be 125 brake then is it
if it's still got the 2.0 diff in it it's going to get to it's top end really really quick, but top out at around the 135mph mark

aha, now you aren't speaking scottish i can understand better
normal dohc 8 valve injection sierra will put out 125 brake
the one that comes with the catalytic converter, puts out 120 brake and has totlay different wiring
the carb'd version is very rare and very shit so don't bother with it
when putting your cossie lump in, use V6 2.9 front springs and upgrade the stoppers at the same time, 2wd discs and spacer brackets will do the job but you might as well get a big brake kit if you want to go the whole hog or get some 2wd standard hubs/suspension and stoppers if you want to wait a bit
you'll also need a rwd mt75 box that will fit the v6, not a lot around so look at the options for that (my way was to swap the bellhousing from the V6 engine'd 2.9 xr4x4 with input shaft onto the rest of the rwd mt75 box and be done with it, and everyone else followed afterwards)
if you get a 2.9 xr4x4 you can also swap the diff over, it'll be taller geared but not quite a direct fitment, so just swap over the whoel xr rear beam and get the rear arb to go along with it
while the box is apart for the swap, also consider the longer 5th gear mod, about Ł200 in parts from ford but worth the effort (another idea everyoens taken for granted yet first worked out, fitted and done by me and tony, mob)
you will also need the fuel pipes form the V6 as they are on the other side of the engien bay
you can also use the flywheel and pedal box from the V6 to mount a cossie clutch (with correct realease bearing) but use new flywheel bolts as the auto ones form the granada are too short for the manual flywheel, get it lightened at the same time and it will want to rev it's tits off
mark 24v wiring can sort you out with a plug and play loom and job jobbed
jus tmake sure that the rev counter works and you don't go beyond the redline as they tend to fall apart very quickly afterwards

but 2.0litre dohcs have 175lb/ft of torque according to the haynes manual thanks largely to the very heavy rotating mass of the bottom end, eg the massive flywheel!
slow to rev, hard to stall..

the fucking 2.9 V6 has 172 lb/ft, how is the little 2.0 4 pot going to have more

it's got about 130 lb/ft, but seems more due to the really short gearing

I had one of these engines in my old sierra. It was a bloody good engine i thought.Ims ure they are about 125bhp.I took the cat out of mine and fitted a cone air filter to make it go a bit better.
im doing basically the same m8 but im putting a 2 liter pinto in better to ture up and you can run them on carbs if ya wona my mates have dohcs and they say there 165bhp but i really dont think it is

na wouldnt say so,, the one thats in righ now is a dohc,, replacing it with a cossie, the car its self is a cosworth but the engine poped n the guy b4 put the 2ltr dohc in,, just a case of replacing the engine, loom and bellhousing ( i fink )
yh i was thinking the same i dont think you can tune them as much enless you spend tons of cash on em but iv herd they aint all that anyway but they do have a alright top end iv defo been in 1 that went 135mph and im sure he only had a few mods
but good luck with your saff im currently working on mine

Heres a power graph for the 2.0 engine. God knows where I got it from though, Its in newtons a kilawatts so if anyone would like to convert to lbs/ft and bhp, be my guest lol

best one i've seen made 142 at the flywheel

a few from the sierra club rolling road day..............
137bhp @5893 rpm
130bhp @5994 rpm
130bhp @5666 rpm
142bhp @5780 rpm
131bhp @5700 rpm
the higher two were running four branch manifolds and chips, while there was virtually no difference between just cone filters and standard..........

it's about the power and the gearing overcoming the drag
the pinto has a higher geared set up than the dohc and less power, so it's going to be slower
on the other hand, i had less power than my mates car, about 10% less, but due to my gearing, i was able to go past him on the straights

if you were to bolt in the 24V engine into something with the 3.62 diff's then it would do 143 mph
if you were to use the type 9 box you would gain an extra 2 mph at the top end
considering that at 6000 rpm in 5th it does 127 mph means that your speedo is WAY WAY over reading

i was flat out in 5th,, maybe a tad out
