i think it depends on the price etc mate cars making strong money these days are hard unless there truely worthy
i put my wifes 2001 gti turbo on ebay last week for £2250 had maybe 15 calls and two people asking to come out asap, but i pulled it from there as she needs it for another few weeks, price it reasonably it will sell

Same problem mate, although think my location is off putting to most, which is strange as i would travel length of country for right car. Plenty of pointless calls and part ex offers which im not interested in, and not a single viewing yet which i think will sell the car as its great in the flesh! Didnt think i'd ever struggle to sell a Cossie!

EXACTLY..............
People are buying cars for good strong money if they are something a bit special.....
If it is a run of the mill car, it NEEDS to be priced very well to sell.......

Even old, leggy TD5's are 3999 by me...the opposite end of the country to you.
Echo above really. Special, top spec stuff will sell. Run of the mill needs to be priced keenly.
The trade aint on its arse as someone above said. Its my day job and i'm fine thanks

sorry no idea on golf prices but if you cant sell that just now within 2-3 weeks its either a dog or too expensive, look on autotrader and ask a bit more than the cheapest ones in like for like condition and you will prob sell it

i had a few people offering silly money for the FRS, normally stating they have found one a grand cheaper but it has little mods & loads of miles...... price reflects condition & miles for me!
the motor trade isnt on its arse, traders selling secondhand cars & garage repairs are really good at the moment, if new cars are not being sold then the older car will be repaired & kept on the road!

As above price it right and it will sell.
Just sold my 54 plate Mondeo 2.0 TDCi Ghia X all the toys in good nick with 97k on the clock, taxed & tested loads of history had it up for 2500 quid. Apart from some chancer around the corner offering me 2k for it because it was a toss up between that and a Freelander to tow his caravan ( I told him straight to go buy the Freelander for 2k as he wouldn't be buying the Mondeo for that) I held out for another week and got what I wanted

That Golf is expensive. You got to look around to see what £2500 gets you these days, thats why you can't sell it.
I sold an 02 plate Alfa 147 2.0, 80k on the clock for £1850.
I'd have taken the offer for £1700 personally.

We're selling loads at the moment and the only problem is getting decent stock to replace it.
FYI That golf books £1575 at 82k miles, trade this month.
Personally, it sounds like retail at £1999 to me as the 2.0 Gti's are about as desirable as me naked.

I too having problems buying, got the cash cant find the right car.
We want a mint SportKA - but prices are just too high and the same cars keep cropping up on the usual sites.
sellers not willing to move much on price - they see other cars for sale at dealers and think theirs is worth as much, after telling me how much they can get trade value (do they think buyers cannot check trade prices too).
(trouble is some people paid too much and want someone to bail them out - not likely to happen).
all cars will sell - just need to price it right

i'd love to know where these cheap cars above are being sold, a 54 plate tdci ghia x for 2.5k with under 100k miles? around here that'd be more like 4k.
i sold my sierra last week for £100 with 160k and no tax or test, i was well pleased!

Like has been said its just a matter of pricing it right so it sells. I only paid 2k for it when I bought it (although I did need to do a couple of bits to it)
