Yeah i know Tiff, i would only have a standard one. Ok that one has a zorst on it, but its not a silly one.
The saloon i seen was like that but 100% standard about same money i think to. If i was in my house i would have bought it. But cant justify it atm Proper bargains out there now on them.

they are a great car and i prefer them to evo's-just my opinion.
the only one ive ever had that let go was my type r sti.ive had loads of others without hassle.
decent wagons are harder to find than people think.you just have to sift through the shit.they are excellent value for money now
the classics have a better driving position and feel great but the bug eye upwards have better interior etc for everyday driving.been using my bugeye wagon this weekend and its been great fun.

I've got several mates with genuine 400hp Scoobs, seriously great cars although to get them to take that sort of power reliably it would seem you need to get some money out of your wallet.
In standard form there only good if they have been looked after otherwise all the bad press is more than worthy although the same could be said about Cosworths really !
There are some awesomely cheap used and import cars about with very expensive parts added.
This is a mates 396hp RA with 6 speed DCCD, it came in from Japan with a stockish engine, 5 speed DCCD, Ohlins and CRAP brakes for about 4k, now that is a LOT of car even if it was hard to stop, the engine eventually gave up which was when it went to Zen.

Any more pics of that scooby? Looks nice!

Tiff, do you know Mark Thwaites? He lives on the new estate by the race course and has opened his own garage by Warwick hospital specialising in working on Scoobs and is currently building a time attack car. If you are after a good one locally, he'll prob know of one and is a sound guy.

Because for about 9K you could have a nice Uk Sti which could safely run close to 400bhp all day long with standard internals. Much better choice than a Cossie, unless a Cossie means something special to you IMO.

Have a look out for a rare sti classic wagon, if you don't mind an import.
Great cars the scoobs had 3 myself - a classic wrx, P1 and Forester which is something else worth looking at if you like your estates, they're based on the impreza too and usually cheaper.
Don't know what your budgets like but these are awesome:

They're good... History is important, if modified then it'll need to have been done properly by people that know what they're doing. Couple of small suspension upgrades, pump, panel filter, re-map and exhaust on a 99/00 UK Turbo and you'll have one of the best point to point cars per ŁŁ that you can buy IMO.
*edit, if you need any questions answered then just fire away.

Awesome cars, ive got a feeling my next car is gonna be a P1 or a WR1 ,not to sure on the new age ones though, the sound of them is simply awesome, i bought an STI type RA without knowing too much about them, bit of an impulse buy, and I was absolutely gob smacked at how well it .

Standard totally mate! Cant be arsed with modding like that anymore prefer to sink money into a new car thats good as standard. As with modifying its a lot of hassel i cant be arsed with. Well for awhile anyway lol.
If i got one. Which i dought i would. It would be a smoker till i can afford a proper keeper car

Don't get me wrong, I'm not one of these twats who comes on a Ford forum and starts putting them down - I love Cosworths, I drove a 330bhp Sapph and it was brilliant. But you need to look at the other side of the coin. That Sapph I drove was my Uncle's...it had 26k miles, was always garaged, and still cost a fortune to run. Every time he drove it(gently) it went wrong.
Ignore what people say about the 'chocolate' engines: they are the people who fiddle around with them despite not knowing what they're doing, or don't maintain them properly. If you get a well looked after one and look after it, it will be almost bulletproof. Just like a normal car, but with the bonus of being great fun!
I had a 10 year old one for a year and a half, and it never let me down once! I felt totally confident driving hundreds of miles at night in it...and it was just solid in general to be honest. If that was my Uncle's Sapph, I would be on the hard shoulder of the motorway with steam pissing out the bonnet.

TIFF, i remember couple weeks ago you were interested in my Volvo 855R that i had for sale. You should get one of them, they made less than 200 and with a re-map there faster than most average imprezza's anyway. Go for a volvo mate! www.vpcuk.org

they are slow as fook my mates rs turbo running 14 psi plus a few mods killed both my other mates 2.0 wrx and 2.5 sti
and you wont believe this but both scoobies are now dead from engine failure from racing the rs turbo but the rs turbo is still going strong

Tiff - i know what you mean about the classic shape Imprezas. Get one that hasnt been chavved in any way shape or form and you'll love it. Some years ago my mate bought an RB5 (4dr salloon obviously) and it is still one of my all time favorite cars. Looked good, Sounded good and went well to boot!
Paddy - the estate looks really tidy mate!!

I recently got a lowish milage Impreza Wagon. Would never usually think about having an estate car but the Impreza is one of only a few cars where an estate still looks good.
Mine is a bit chavved up but that can be easily sorted. It goes well alright though and has been spot reliability wise so far, but it just lacks something. I love the way it handles , sounds and goes but its just missing something i cant put my finger on.
Hopefully going to swap it for a 200sx soon and see if that can keep me interested for longer.

And Tiff, the offer of a drive is there mate when I'm in Worcester
[And to the people that PMd apart from Tiff, I'm sorry guys but I'm not getting involved in trading on PF out of respect for the owners, it's only because it's Tiff that I replied. The car will be on autotrader when a space opens up on our website but for now, it's doing a good job as a daily hack ]
