Default Speed camera....

I was driving down a road that i use a few times a week and has the average speed cameras on one section in a 40mph limit... (2 of them)

My missus was telling me about her weekend away and i had fallen into a trance and when i awoke i had only just gone thru the 1st camera at about 50 - 55...(was driving quite slow in the 60 limit due to only being semi-conscious)... so imediately slapped the anchors on and drobe at 30 until i had passed the second camera some distance (about a mile) down the road...

Now the question i have is, will i get persecuted - do these cameras take your initial speed and do u or just average it over the distance - are they likely to be working (Newark, notts area) - and should i make my missus pay the fine if i do get charged?! any info would be cool..

manc, i think he means was driving without realising...

we all do it...

bit like walking... you dont think about putting your left leg frst, then right leg, then left leg etc. etc. you just do it...

driving's the same... you just do it...

Agree with Jimbo.

I'm sure we've all driven home and then when we've got there thought I don't remember half of the journey. You go into autopilot sometimes and just drive

if your on about specs cameras they take average speed over a set distance, ie time taken to do say 1 mile. if you slowed to 30 after passing the 1st one you SHOULD be ok.

They were specs, they have them all over nottingham... I was hoping that that would be the case....

The semi conscious bit was just a figure of speech!! I am hardly going to admit it was my fault for being so dosy - much easier to blame the misuses tedious story telling technique!!

Yeah, i did mean prosecuted but thought persecuted sounded more appropriate considering the driving conditions we have to endure these days!!!

I think, next time, rather than be an attempted smart arse, i will just state the facts!!! Although, explaining my lame jokes keeps me from doing any work which can only be a good thing!!!

Thanks for the vote of confidence fudgeass!!!

i dont see how they can measure your speed by just going over one speed sensor strip. i thought it was the average speed between point A and point B so hope you will be fine!

and pmsl at you describing your mrs - hope she doesn't read this!!

They use the equation:

speed = distance/time

Hence, they are a known distance apart and the they time you. They take your number plate at the first camera, the timer starts and then when you pass the 2nd camera your number plate is taken again and the timer stops.

I reckon you'll be ok.

Dave.
