39% drop for toyota, and the first year ever in their history they have made a loss ![Sad](https://passionford.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_sad.gif)
They are in a ridiculously strong position, in japan they actually lend money to the banks and the government, so not like they have creditors banging at their door like GM, but its still a bad situation to be in.

it's the age old problem though, you make something better and better and better and there comes a point in time when peole are willing to keep the old versions running becaue they don't need to buy a new one
just think of how many people you know, personally, that would need to buy a new car, out of their own pockets, every few years
i can't think of anyone who needs to, why spend £25k on a new focus rs when you can buy a second hand st for £8, you don't NEED to have the car do you, same with grandad who wants to buy a new honda because his old one is a year old, he doesn't NEED to
and when you can buy perfectly servicable motors for less thant £500 these days that will still last another 10 years it all becomes a bit silly
i suppose it's only when the lack of new cars available to the second hand market starts to show will there be a price increase
