I am getting a rs16i and at the moments its all in bits . I have purchased it as an unfinished resto. All the parts are there but i dont know what to do engine wise, Do i keep it std like the rest of the car (only lowering it)or i was thinking of putting a 2.0 zetec on throttle boddies and aftermarket management but can not decide.

Dont spoil a 16i, they're going up in value......so dont do anything you cant easily put back IMO
Why not just get a base mk3 if you're gonna mod it and just use 16i spoilers/interior

I have one and wondered the same thing, Zetec on ITB's. zetec tubby, ZVH, CVH turbo etc, but have decided that these are rare cars now and should be kept standard as possible in styling and engine, maybe a ported CVH head or higher lift cams but nothing that takes away from the originality.
Get a mk3 and build a ful 16i replica with an alternative big power engine (thats what I want to to) and keep the real one original (think of them then as being good and evil twins lol)
IMO, mods such as rear disc conversion, better suspension, polybushes etc are all going to enhance the overall car so are worthwhile, but will still keep the 'original' feel and aesthetics of the car while making it more reliable and mordern.
These are just my thoughts tho, others may disagree, but whatever you decide its always great to see anotehr 16i being kept alive

You could mod the cvh, keep the coils and sensor lead but wire up a mappable ECU such as OMEX. I know someone who did.
You could then get a fruity cvh on TB's......

There are still plenty of mint standard examples about so if you fancy a change engine wise why not do it, engine loom on 16is can be removed seperate from the main loom without any hassle.
