Dont think so...FRS Mk1 prices have been slowly dropping for a while..see Guzzlers car he cant shift in for slae.

As with everything, Mint low mileage examples wil hold value well, everyday cars wont, they'll carry on falling till the plateau then creep up again as they beecome rarer in a few years. This will happen regardless of the Mk2

Lets face it, would an individual be considering purchasing a choice of a £10k car or £25k car?

I dont expect them to go up at all, more thought they might drop even lower

alot of people who bought the mk1 focus brand new and still have the it may consider swapping it the the new one, and there are already shit loads of them for sale on piston heads

as there were only 4000 made, i dont think a new modle will affect it much, if it was a constant run thing like the focus st, yes, the new modle makes a difference, as it is, no.

Your english is absolutely impeccable compared to the majority of people on here

I think the new RS will cause prices of the Mk1 Focus RS to drop.

in answer to your question, ME

once I have sold the cossie, that is what I am looking to get next

IMO the mk1 RS and the mk2 ST are two very differant cars, the RS is alot more raw, so much so that the ST170 is probably better specced than the RS for the creature comforts etc but as a limited build and a RS badge it carries far more kudos for me

The ST is quite a bit bigger and feels like it, ideal for a family car etc dont get me wrong, I think they are a very nice car, my brother in law has one and its a lovelly car.

But, my car is the second car in our household as I only live a couple of miles from work, for anything else we use the missus Merc, so for me I want the car that is a bit more liary and fun and in my eyes, that is the RS

I`d love a RS Focus, I think once the mk2 has been out for a while, I could get a quite nice daily driver for around the 5k mark. Just have to wait and see.

Has been asked a number of times before on RSOC forum & iirc general opinion is that the new FRS won't have that much of an effect on the residuals of the Mk1, mainly as they're 2 completely different cars in 2 different markets with at least a £15k price difference between them

The Mk1 values have dropped & will continue to do so like most other performance cars the same age due to the economic issues, people want to shift the cars to clear finance, need £££, etc, hence lower prices.

End of the day the last of the Mk1 FRS were made in '04 and are now 5 years old, the older ones are 7 years old now, none are under a "proper" warranty, which means expensive repairs if certain things go wrong and they do (even if some on the RSOC don't like to accept it ) and a lot of people dont want that expense.

Another thing that makes the Mk1 devalue easily is that a lot of parts including panels & some crucial suspension parts are either bloody expensive to replace or they are just completely unobtainable making the car an easy write off

I would say that any decent limited run car with a badge like the RS will retain it's value reasonable well if kept clean.

All cars have taken a whack lately, the new RS is not even in the same league to be able to compare, yes a few owners may sell up to buy the new one, but not many and not enought to crash the market on the MK1's
