Good cars. A genuinely better car for the money than a saff IMHO... NEWER, drift better, handle better, ARE better. If you have a few quid burning a hole in your pocket right now, try a GTST before you plump for a saggy, shit-off-the-line, rattly, smokey, sold-for-a-reason saff...
It is my opinion that people who buy saffs now actually want to own them, ie its an RS Cosworth, they want the badge, its a collectors car etc etc... in other words its an enthusiasts car (very few enthusiasts left now).
To a know nothing (unbiased) bloke with a few quid to waste, its much better wasted on the Binliner than the Saff. Having owned both, and having my GTR in for more work at the moment, I guarantee you wont be disappointed.
Sorry passionford... well, both of you who still own a cossie anyway

i've never liked the look of them tbh, any of them.
they look ok but just don't do nothing for me, for a weekend toy i'd rather a cossie even if it was slower.

in all honesty i've not driven either, i think it's just the chav type image the car has that puts me off. the only ones around here are older early 90's models and they all looked tired to say the least.

I've driven one and its the only jap i'd buy,
can't believe I said that,, but it to me felt like a bmw straight 6 with a turbo on it.
it was a car from Garage-D and was an rb25 400bhp and 400lb torque
It Didnt have the cossie nothing nothing and then vrrrmmm mental feeling of a t34.63 380bhp 2wd saph. It felt smoother but still very quick and pulled all the way through.
Still despite the great build quality of the nissan engines, they're all getting on a bit now though.

but on the other hand id have a skyline without a second thought if i had the opportunity, im not some chav who saw them in fast and furious and on need for speed and thought 'mint, ill get one, paint it green and get some garden lighting from B&Q underneath', i like them because of their pedigree, heritage and just how good they are.
suppose both cossies and skylines have their ups and downs, the chav image etc but when push comes to shove in standard guise anyway the skyline wins.
lets not forget what car it was that knocked RS500's off their pedestal back in the 80's..
so yeah, get some pics up!

by todays standards theyre pretty turd! but theyre just iconic cars imo, everyone knows a cossie when they see one.

EXACTLY.
Both have ups and downs, both have a "chav" following (to a degree, I know which atrracts more though

IMHO If you are looking for a Sierra RS Cosworth, buy one. Enjoy the rear doors and legroom (that you, as the owner will no doubt praise consistently) you will be happy.
BUT
If you had Ł3-5k to spend on a car, and you wanted RWD, 4 occasional, 2 main seats, and a degree of practicality, but didnt care what badge you had, you would go for the liner (or one of many other jap cars that now hugely trump the saff) instead. Simple as that.
IMHO. Not trying to cast aspersions on the saff, but havig had every car mentioned so far in this thread, the asnswer to me is simple.

a cossie will always be a legend in my eyes but there old now and tbh the legend is bigger than owning the car in my eyres as even when it was on the road it never grabbed as a car that i loved owning , remember when hamond and may drove there early years dream cars and they never matched up thats how i feel about them ! the binline is a heavy car but tbh dont feel it , it is responsive and handles well and there smooth and pull right up to 7.5k with out a struggle and u never feel you are struggling there comfortable if i drove the cossie a distance i felt like i was beat up at the end of it with the liner i dont, if your chasing numbers a cossie to do a honest 450/500 bhp needs nega money to do right and will be unreliable with diffs and boxes always a issue the line well a clutch turbo head gasket injectors and it will do it with ease and still be a car that you can use each day and not worry
but after all its down to taste and i can safely say i love this car i used it every day and it makes me smile its easy to run so im happy

Best thing you've done Jay! [excluding the missus]
... and Cossies don't have a chav image at all? ![Surprised](https://passionford.com/forum/images/smilies/bigcry.gif)
Yes they're iconic, yes they're collector's cars... but ask the average non petrol head what they think of a Cossie and they'll picture you in a Kappa tracksuit with the windows down, hollering at under 16s [ok, so I still do the last bit].

Most R33 Skylines I've seen don't look that chav at all and I'd go so far as saying that most owners do respect them and look after them. You will get the odd one or two that are complete mongs but I think that a R33 isn't as chav as people think they are. For a start the insurance on them is astronomical!

out of curioscity, how much does a decent condition R32 GTR cost nowadays? ie one that you can drive and forget about rather than fix anc break
