omex to pc data cable? which one?

Default omex to pc data cable? which one?

got hold of a omex 600 ecu yesterday but haven't got the data lead to plug it into my laptop. does anyone know what lead i need for it?

However, if you don't have a Serial Port on the laptop you might struggle. You can get Serial to USB convertors, but they are hit-and-miss.

The newer laptops don't seem to have serial ports on them as a rule any more, what do you mean by 'hit and miss'?? Do they just not work?

Some do, some don't!! ...and Omex seems particularly sensitive to problems with these adaptors.

Ah right how strange...will be a bit annoying having to buy several to get one that works! Have to get hold af an old laptop instead i think!

if you wanna guarantee itll work use a PCMCIA adapter (PC Card)

not all pcmcia converters work with everything straight away though jim. some need quite detailed setting changes that are beyond most people

bought a cable from ebay for a couple of quid it's worth a go. if that fails then i'll have to think on.

true nick, my last one took me 2 days to find a driver for! and i'm a fucking UBER-GEEK

hardware wise theyre just the job tho, no emulation or cheap shit just a proper hardware serial port

My OMRON USB to RS232 converter works with everything I have evr tried to connect to and operates at very high speed.

I used it with an OMEX600 ECU with no issues at all.

It was however about £120 so that probably explain why it works with everything I have ever connected to.
