there could be several reasons for this, i'm crap at looking for stuff, someones's moved it's location, it's been binned, etc, but soemone must know about it
i know it was getting a little complicaetd with peole saing that with all that new stuff they had they should have known better and got contents insurance sort of thing and if it's been binned then that's fair enough, don't bring it back, but, if this is the case, is it not time that there was a dead link to the post along the lines of "this thread has been deleted" so that the people who look for it at least know it's gone and don't have to worry about them being antigeek and requiring someone to find it for them?

sometimes when a thread gets moved a search doesnt bring it up though twellsie, even though its still on the forum.
any chance of knowing why it was gone? would save this thread getting binned to would it not?

Think you missed my point, or I didnt make it very well: I have seen people searching for their threads unsuccessfully when they have only been moved (like to for sale section etc) and
not deleted? Does the forum change permissions of moved threads so when something is moved it cant be searched?

Just t o clear things up, I was not burgled at all. I was being told by text I had been, when in actual fact I hadn't. I did hear someone offered me Ł50 though, which I shall take regardless, so I can get drunk.
